I picked up the 437 a few weeks ago new. The bullet casing was marked 9/2009 and in my internet research I come up with little to no results.

Here is a pic of it.

At 1st I hated that two-tone and wasn't going to have the gun shop order me a all sliver J-frame but as I was looking at it, I grew to like it just that fast.

So in short, when did S&W start and end production on it AND how many was made.

I can't find it in the SC of S&W. Better ask Lee.

437-2 More Information

I have one of these beautiful revolvers.

Mine is all black, rather than the two-tone.

I have been told that this particular revolver is not listed in any S&W cataloges nor does it appear on their website.

The story I heard is that there were less than 500 of these manufactured. I have been unable to find out the exact number. Half went to one distributor and the other half to a second distributor.

I have no idea what the original or current selling price for this item is.

A guy I know from the range offered to trade me a virtually new model 60 (357) for it.

The only thing I have done is put a set of small grips on it.

If you can find one of these I would highly recommend picking it up.

BUMP

I'm still want to know about this gun.

No, S & W would have stamped it as such, or called it a 437Sc.

The OP was last here 7 months ago (a post regarding gas station etiquette) and the question is over 5 years old :).

Hmm. When it popped up on Tapatalk, i assumed it was a new thread. Thanks. Ill check next time. Still interesting tho.

I wonder what's so different from a 637. They look the same.

The OP's gun, shown in the first post, is a product code 150674. Guns with a CMV s/n prefix were made in August of 2009.

A scandium frame gun will have a small "blast shield" in the underside of the top strap, above where the barrel comes thru the frame. J-frames made from plain aluminum alloy won't have one.
