I own quite a few long barrel 41 Magnums but I would have shelled out the money for that one just to have an extra

Hmmm.. I have Lil'gun, 2400, H110 powders and I do have over 500 210gr LSW slugs as well as over 175 Hornady XTP 210 grain JHPs.. and lots of brass (I always pick up good brass at the ranges.)

Now to cook up some loads to see what 'Long Tom' can do.

With the Hornady 210 JHP... 22.0 of H110 will drop deer a long way off...

If all you really want is 1250 fps find a medium burning powder vs the slow burning ones you have. Trying to back them down will result in a lot of unburned powder... LilGun is not recommended for revolvers as it is extremely hot burning.... Freedom Arms recommends not using it in their guns...

For the lead bullets 15-17.0 grains of 2400 should shoot good...

The idea Bob is to not pound the gun with high pressure loads but do make 1250 fps for a 210 grain bullet... good enough for deer but I want the gun to last lots and lots of ammo!!! If H110 does not give good accuracy with a bit reduced load then maybe 2400 powder. I'll crip heavy and maybe use some fiber to take up the air space in the case.

Sure wish I could have a shoulder stock on it but the A*T*F gets their underwear in a wad if one does that....

I agree on 2400 being a good powder for loads slightly less than maximum possible velocity from slow burning ball powder, but good luck finding any 2400 these days.

The ATF…..its only illegal if you get caught.

As always, 8 3/8 guns should be turned into 5 inch guns. I just don’t need that much tube. Who does? Shoot 3s for a while, and 4.25s seem longish.

You could go a lot faster with a 210 and not stress said 5 in a bit.

Rummaging around in the man cave I found a Folgers red can with '.41 Mangum' label. In it was a bunch of .41 cases (not surprising as I knew I had a bunch somewhere). But also inside it was a peanut metal can with 'primed .41 brass.' Yep primed and belled.

Just mossied on over to the press (Lee three hole press) and snaped in the .41 turent. Of the six Lyman 55 chargers one is marked 'H110'. Set it for 19 grains and stuffed twelve hulls. Also was a 2/3 box of 240 grain XTP JHPs... stuck 12 of them in the cases and vola!! 12 rounds ready to fire tomorrow.

Dunno what the final charges will be but tomorrow I shoot a bunch of .380s out of my wife's new SIG P365 'Rose' .380 to break it in. I'll fire the .41s to!

I had one of these in about ‘92….traded a Ruger P85 straight across to obtain it along with a Bianchi 5BL holster. It was fun and accurate but it was also unwieldy for my taste after the novelty wore off and I had a model 58 at the same time. I kind of regret not having it now but the novelty would probably wear off again. I do have a 9-1/2” single six that I hardly shoot but it’s fun to own, yet I shoot two shorter versions of that one. I still own the model 58 now after 3 + decades. Cheers and have fun

Oh yea 210s.. but the manual says start 10% low... and thus more or less 19 grains. I'll see today what she does and then work up just a bit. I don't want max loads... but good ones that are accurate and decently powerful for deer.

See I always wanted a Marlin 336 Marauder in .35 Rem. Real hard to find. Well here is my 'rifle'... but even shorter and handier than any 336 (and I have two Texans in 30/30.) And since I am a fairly decent shot.. and have a Bandoleer holster that fits this 41, it will be easy to pack in the woods.

I am getting some real good “less than maximum velocity” loads using TCM powder. Using loads found in the 41 Mag Pet Loads from Brian Pearce. The TCM powder seems readily available too. It flows through a powder measure like water and burns clean. Not as much blast as H110.

I had an 8 3/8” nickel 57 years ago and sold it to fund my CAS addiction. It was an amazing shooter. I do prefer shorter guns now but at that price Deaf I would have purchased it immediately. Congratulations on a great find.

Good range session today. Ran a 100 rounds of .380s through my wife's Sig P365 'Rose' .380 (she has a limp wrist syndrome problem.) Loaded 3 grains of Bullseye over 100 grain Speer jhp slugs. Zero jams with all firing one handed.

And then I had MY fun!

Yes that is six shots at 20 yards two handed (and with left middle finger bloody.) 19 grains of H110 and 210 grain XTP! It is my new 'rifle'... and yes off hand two handed... It shoots real well. First shot to the left.. then a few clicks on the sights then one shot to the right (DANG!) and a click or so back... and then the last four rounds..

Might just leave it at 19 grains of H110... Notice no unburned powder.

Got my old 'Assault Systems' Bandolero style holster.. yea sticks out a bit but I figure if I find a cordura knife sheath that looks like the holster then I can put it inside the holster, pull it out 1/2 way or so out from the bottom till it matches the gun's barrel length, then epoxy it in..

Makes a perfect scabbard for my 'rifle'..

My experience with H110/W296 was that it did create an impressive flash. It could make shooters on the stations on either side of me move away from me.

Loaded up more ammo! Primed brass makes it so easy! And I found a 57 marked HK speedloader in my bags plus Don Hume N frame speed loader carrier. And .44/45 speed strips work with the .41!! It is going to be carried a lot very soon in the field!

Meanwhile... The .380 and ... 110 grain .357 JHP handload!

Got my wife a P365 'Rose' .380. But she has limp wrist syndrome. Well to make the gun kick some more I have some 110 grain .357 (yes I am aware the .380 is .355) jhps meant for the .38 Spl.

Now I shot a bunch of 100 grain .355s yesterday.. kicked a bit more but zero pressure signs. Using Bullseye powder (3 grains) and my wife's 'Rose'. Shot it one handed and zero jams (for me.)

So today I loaded up the rest of the 100 grainers and now eight 110 grain .357 JHPs (Speers if you wanna know.) They chamber quite fine.. no hesitation and no sticking.

Monday I will go to the range and do the last of the breakin (and have fun shooting to!) And then try out the 110s. Check carefully for budges "smiles" or any pressure sign.



Now I repeat... in MY WIFE'S P365.. no one else's. No blowback but a locked breached P365 .380. And I'll let you guys know how it works out.

Oh, also loaded up a bunch more of those .41 magnums... Yes it will be a fun Monday!
