How to measure shotgun barrel?

Do you include the chamber and measure from the rear or is the length measured from the front of the chamber to the muzzle?

The barrel length includes the chamber. It is the distance between the breech face and the muzzle, just like a rifle.

Close the breach, stick in a cleaning rod and measure from that to the end of bbl. This works for double type guns pumps and A. loaders!

Measure from the face of the closed breech to the edge of the muzzle.

As far as I know the measurement is taken from the breech face..
As witnessed be me during a 200 shotgun gunsmith job, turning them into " bedroom " guns..

I've always left an extra 1/2 or 3/4 in. in case the law has a weird measuring stick. Larry
