How to stipple?

I'm sure there are dozens of videos on YouTube, but from the M&P community, what are your tips on how to stipple?

This Texas heat (and it's not hot yet) has me considering roughing up that grip to make the sweat less of a factor.

Traditionally, metal is stippled with a tool that looks like a punch, and a hammer. Not sure how this would work on plastic though. I have seen some plastic frames that have been done with what looks like a hand held solder gun that came out good.

Why don't you click on the notable thread index in the top section of this page and look at the last item on the list!!! its a tutorial on how to stipple and it is extremely well done!
 
There was also some gorgeous pictures posted about a month or two ago from a guy who stippled his Shield. It looked like it was OEM --- that good.
