After eyeing a 686 for several days on another forum, I decided to pull the trigger. My experience with revolvers is limited, having only a Model 60 and 66.

This specific revolver was, according to the owner, carried much, shot little and had a bead blasted finish which is fine as I am buying this as a shooter not a collectible. And, I like the looks of the matte finish.

I'm looking forward to having something built for the .357.

So, for $450 shipped, how'd I do?

I think you did fine. I like the look. That may be close to high end where I am in GA, but they go for more than that too in other places. Congratulations are in order.

Congrats on a real nice looking 686 at a good price.

Ya done good, now have a competent gunsmith do a SA/DA trigger job on it and shoot it, a lot

Thanks all for the replies.

This is a 686-3. There is a nick though it is on the outside edge and not the muzzle face. I can't imagine it will affect accuracy, no?

Also, where does one acquire those really nice, polished wood, finger groove grips?

I have been looking at that one too... I think you did fine with the price. I have one just like it and its a great shooter. I also bead blasted mine and love the look.... his original price was pretty high.

I agree you done good. I haven't seen anymore for sale at this price in any condition.

Thanks all for the replies. I can't wait to have it in hand this coming week. I feel pretty good about the price after the feedback here.

Have a good weekend everyone.
