CORRECT

I always thought a bushel was a unit of volume

Bushel - a measure of capacity equal to 64 US pints.

32 US Quarts / 8 US Gallons

Grain (corn, wheat, etc.) is now usually weighed on scales and no longer measured by volume.

The weight is converted to "bushels" by using an agreed Standard Weight for a volumetric bushel of the product.
