Came across a nice shooter grade Colt Agent today. I never owned a Colt snubby before and decieded to snach this one up at a good price. Anyone out there who can school me on this one? Being an aluminum frame I would imagine that plus P ammo should be used spareingly. I also broke my rule on never buying an alloy frame snubby. A day of first's I suppose.

I would use +p ammo only for carry.

Don't feel guilty about buying a Colt. I just did too. Always wanted a SAA. And no matter how much better a Ruger, (or whatever) is function wise, it's not a REAL SAA, if it's not a Colt.

Hopalong never packed no Ruger!

How's the action on it?

I traded for this sorry-looking Agent last weekend, and it has the best factory action of any revolver I've ever owned.

I think I'm gonna end up carrying instead of my DS.

I had an Agent that I bought on the 1970s and later sold, I would love to have it back but there are other guns higher up on my buy list.

My back was acting up and I wasn't feeling that good so threw a hand towel on the bed to prevent the bed from getting greasy and I took some pictures that came out terrible and really aren't worth posting. I try to get some better shots tomorrow

Aloha,

Don't feel bad, I like the snubbie Colts too.

Working on a deal(I hope) to get a M-13 4" HB And a 4" Python(I hope).

I'm telling the Wife, yet. If I do, the Python will make a nice companion to her 6" Python.

Solved that problem.

I have a fondness for Colt revolvers. The D-frames (especially so the alloy ones) make dandy carry guns.

Thanks for the info folk's. I think I will stick with standard pressure load's with this one. doc540, it has a nice smooth action but really feel's different from a S&W. This was my first DA Colt reolver buy, I own a few SAA's and Govrenment model's. I am getting out to the range today to try out the Colt and a new to me pre 17 I picked up a couple of week,s ago.

I own almost as many colts as I do smiths. The only trouble as I understand it is said its hard to find a good gunsmith that understands them. That hasnt been a problem for me as I havent needed one.

I have an Agent made in 1974. I got it at a gunshow a few years ago from a guy looking to sell it for a very good price. It was NIB and I had the money at the time(rare) and didn't think twice. The Agent is the same as the Detective Special except with a alloy frame and shorter grips. In post 1972 models, it's the same as the Cobra except for the markings and grips.

I like the Colt D frame snubs. They are not much bigger than a J frame and have six shots. The trigger action is very different that a S&W but they can be made very smooth. It's a real classic and a very handy revolver. It's a shame Colt stopped making them and all the other DA revolvers. I think you will like your new Colt.

Anybody willing to help a guy out here? I also had my eye on a Colt today, while visiting my fave local shop... a Colt SAA someone modded some time back. No longer original, and they still want $2500 for it, but it would definitely be a one-of-a-kind piece. And it's in .38 Special, so it wouldn't cost much to feed, what with the way ammo prices are these days.

So, don't feel bad. You're not the only traitor...
