A I bolt came into the local pawn shop and it a 7 mm. I own a browning a bolt that is a tack driver. Looked around and I am wondering if it's the same as a 1500. I read there was a recall guy at pawn shop has limited info. Anyone on here shoot one ? The barrel is stamped tc. The price is 600. Is it a good buy or waste. Thanks to any and all information.

I realize this thread is a few weeks old now, but I've had a couple of the the I Bolt rifles. Unless it has a $600.00 piece of glass, it's too much.

There was a recall on the fire control group. While accurate, many of these rifles have had questionable feed. Yes, unreliable feed from a bolt rifle?

There are reasons why these were so quickly discontinued.

I have an i-Bolt in .30-06 and am very happy with it, but would not pay over $300 for one. It's a good starter rifle and very reliable and accurate. I can't say it's good for you, but I would definitely say it's good.

Two recalls:
Bolt Safety
Sear Engagement Pin

A couple of reviews:
from Shooting Times
guy named Jeff Quinn

Guns Magazine (December 2008) also reviewed the rifle. Their uptake is very positive, and though I can't find a full text version of the article online for you, the title is "Hunter's Delight" and the tagline is "S&W's new hunting rifle is affordable accurate and dependable."
