I am only sharing my reasons for doing so. Your opinion is your opinion.

Two months ago I went to my LGS to buy a P320 in 40 s&w. I'm not Sig fanboy at all whatsoever. I enjoy my p226(9mm) and my p227(45) and they are both in my carry rotation. My p227 is the night stand gun and it probably won't ever change. I know it seems counterproductive to carry And train with two completely different trigger systems But it works for me.

My first m&p was a used 45, with what seemed a very low round count, I bought at a pawn shop. The frame was cerakoted, had trijicon night sights, and a full apex fss upgrade. Loved it and it shot beautifully. A few months down the road I traded it for a P226 brand new and while not a bad trade, I regretted it. I've learned not to trade guns anymore.

Anyway, I love how the m&ps shoot, the ergos, and believe it or not the white dot sights(will soon be switched to trijicons). With the new trigger(manufactured May 2015) I believe it is a pretty good out-of-the-box trigger. It handles the 40 impressively for a polymer gun. Bore axis is a subjective matter because it is a very minute thing to worry about for 90% of all shooters. The only thing I hate, and will continue to hate is the hinged trigger. I had an m&p 9 as well. It was an 06 model from the same pawn shop. From all the reviews of earlier m&p 9s, I sold it without ever shooting it. Don't regret it except I wish I would have shot it.

Now on to the p320. It's a great gun with good ergos and a fantastic trigger. As much as I like sigs, and will probably a 320 eventually, this really isn't for me. The modularity doesn't appeal to me because I carry and shoot full size only. I Live in Florida so my gun laws are pretty lenient and not very much around, besides open carry.

With that being said, the modularity does not appeal to me. Bore axis is not an issue since I shoot my sigs accurately at 7-25 yards. It fit my hands fine. And obviously I do not have to use the modularity.

As for the M&P, I know the platform and how it functions. I enjoy shooting them and carrying them. Weight is also a non issue since handguns shouldn't bother you at all whatsoever. I do know what its like to carry weapons all day long wearing more gear than any LEO will. My fiancee enjoys shooting the m&p as well since she has small hands and can reach the trigger easier than on a da/sa Sig.

As for shooting both in 40, the m&p was definitely a softer shoot. Never shot either in 9mm.
Sig
-modularity is the major thing about it
- Good trigger and reset
- Bore axis(if you care)
- it's a sig, but they let their finish suffer on the 320 from what I hear
- I don't know the platform(but will one day)
- same trigger pull each time
M&P
-little to no modularity(can anyone clear this up for me for fs and compact if there is any?
- New trigger is good and reset is decent enough
-low bore axis(subjective)
- finish seems to be better on m&p
- same trigger pull each time(again, subjective)
-future wife can reach trigger easier lol
- I know the platform
- I can't release the sear by pulling trigger on 2015 model. HAVE to use the lever

I don't have any pros or cons. Take it as you will and apologies for this really long post!

First day on the forums.

Oh okay. Appreciate it! Modularity means nothing to me. But I guess in states like California then there is a reason.

Welcome to the forums from another Floridian. I doubt you'll get much argument on here for choosing the M&P over the Sig, though I've nothing bad to say about Sig in general.

The only gun I'm against is glock lol. The m&p felt better imho. With the new trigger it definitely puts the m&p back on the market...better.

And thank you. Gotta love the warm weather😏

Well, define "modularity". There are plenty of common parts between the FS and the C but they won't suddenly change one into the other. As stated, mags swap out from FS to C to gain greater capacity unless you're in a lame state like me (yes, I'm in CA)

Does your M&P have the mag disconnect? Mine do too. You can pull the trigger, but you need to leave the mag in. Naturally, the slide won't come off with the mag still in it, so you have to drop the mag after the trigger pull. It's a bit awkward but doable if you really want. I just flip the lever on mine.

As for your preference of the M&P over the 320, I say you buy what pleases you. I have a few poly wonders include a SP2022, P320C, M&P FS, Compact and Shield, PPQ 4" and 5", and a VP9 (since they were all mentioned).

My SP2022 stands watch in my nightstand (I just feel more comfortable with DA/SA). My M&Ps do get a lot of air time. I just immensely enjoy shooting them. If I ever get to carry, my Shield will be my primary.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a 227!!!

It's all a matter of what fits you best nowadays. They're all reliable, accurate, and well put together firearms. Sig and Smith only for me...And Kimber which has been flawless.

My m&p does not have mag disconnect. Refuse to own one lol. I called Smith and they said it was normal. My m&p 45 i had released after pulling trigger. It was made in 2012 i believe.

My p227 is amazing! every bit as accurate as a P226. I love it.

Absolutely love both the SIG P320 ( mine us 40 full size) n the MP line... Looking now for a 45acp... Torn between SIG P320, MP45 or Walther PPQ but I also must say that the Glock 21 is a very nice 45

I just can't get used to the glock. Not my thing. The new m&p triggers are better than what they used to be. Putting an apex in, a full apex with trigger, ram, sear rivals the 320. Both are quality guns. I love both and will eventually buy both. but I know m&ps and sigs classic p series da/sa. Those, imo, are the top guns on the market. The p320 is definitely one of the best strikers kn the market.

My m&p 40 will remain stock, except the sights.

I hated Glocks. I would say the word "Glock" and spit. Then a friend gifted me with a Glock 22 Gen 4. While my Shield .40 is my EDC, I like the Glock. Surprise, surprise!! I bought a Lone Wolf 9 mm conversion barrel for it. Makes for cheaper practice. I will continue to carry the Shield and use the Glock for a range gun. Might carry the Glock in a shoulder holster after January 1, 2016.
