I can't help it if my mind wanders aimlessly!

It's what happens when I have too much idle time to think about things that others probably never consider.

I've been wondering if there is any difference or care needed in lubricating a steel semi firearm versus a polymer one.My thought is that steel sliding on steel would hold up better than plastic on plastic.Could there be more heat built up on a polymer firearm which might require better lubrication? I'm thinking that the difference in materials might make a difference in prolonged shooting if not lubricated properly.

I'm not saying this should be a concern but just wondering if there could be an adverse effect like a FTF or FTE.

I'm already thinking that maybe I should just go back to watching TV or back off on the meds. :)

Rails have metal. Where an FTE occurs is all metal. There is enough heat build up from the explosion and generally after 30 years it seems to be a none issue

But if you shoot them in the woods, do they make any noise?
Yes I sometimes have the aimless mind.

"Plastic on plastic?" I'm assuming that you are refering to polymer
frame semi autos of which none have polymer slides that I'm aware of.
Most of them have steel slides and either steel or aluminum receiver insert slide rails. The Ruger P95 9mm has a polymer receiver with slide
rails and is certainly not lacking in durability. I would think that by now
just about all gun enthusiasts would have seen the Glock ad that had
a mod 17 on a pile of fired brass with the claim that it was a rental
gun with over three hundred thousand rounds through it. Relax, go to
the fridge and grab another cold one and watch tv, repeat as needed.
