I do not want an ugly handgun

For those that love the look of todays polymer handguns you can stop reading now. As a self admitted and diehard old school gun nut pushing 3 score and 10 I am a blue steel and walnut guy. In my humble opinion the absolute best looking handgun ever made was the P&R Smith and Wesson Model 27 with a 6 inch barrel. It just oozes class and workmanship.
Yesterday I got my latest issue of American Rifleman and on the cover is the latest offering from Taurus. I am sure it is a properly functioning and effective piece of machinery but one look at all those weird angles sharp corners and that thing that passes as a trigger almost gave me the dry heaves.
I am now through ranting about ugly handguns and I will retreat to my corner and look at my Model 29 and my 586 and try to recover from the shock to my system.

All my S&W revolvers are stainless except for my grand dads pre model 30 that's now mine and a 10-8.

I love the looks of blue, but the less likely to rust stainless is my favorite.

My polymer guns are working tools. Not meant to be pretty, just pretty effective. Some people like to collect high end beautiful hammers, but if I have to build something, I'm reaching for my Stanley. There's something to be said for an ugly but effective tool that just works every time.

My all time favorite carry gun is a Sig P365. I seriously doubt I'll ever find anything that fits the bill for me better. It's small, I can shoot it well, and if I need more than 11 rounds, I'll be dead and bloated anyhow.

I'm with you. Nothing wrong with a gun that shoots well and looks good, but that Taurus is far from a looker or a shooter. 2" groups at 7 yards is horrible accuracy, but there are likely people that will buy such a pistol.

You can dress up a pig in ruffles and lace but in the end she's still a pig. Same for a gun, engrave it, put fancy stocks, true the sights, put it in a fancy holster but down deep she's still a gun what needs to be fired. I have what has to be the uglyist 1911A1 you have ever seen but lads I mean to tell you I wouldn't take $15,000.00 for it. I can and have shot a screw off coke, bottle cap at 83 yards, and it carried well in Nam.

I have 2 plastic handguns ones a 45 M&P and a Shield 2.0. They have their place and I don't worry about banging them up or holster wear. All that and I am a blue and walnut guy for my favorite hand guns and rifles but that does not keep me from owning a few plastic ones.

Your post is EXACTLY why I won't ever own glock..........Even a HI-Point looks better.

For sure the N frames and 1911s have it all in the looks dept. But I like to carry a Glock or Sig also...
