I got my Shield a week ago today after waiting 10 weeks after ordering it. So far it's living up to the hype. After a little more than 300 rounds, it functions just fine, though I have one question I'll ask in a bit. (last two paragraphs below)

Last Thursday I put 100 WWB FMJ's through it followed by 21 Blazer Brass FMJs I had leftover from an outing with another pistol. Then I shot 7 Federal Hollow Points. Not sure of the name, but it appears to be their cheapest HPs. They come in a black and silver box, and they have a rather plain appearance compared to Hydra-Shoks.

Tonight I shot 100 rds of WWB FMJ, 50 rds of Federal Champion FMJ, and 50 rds of Speer Gold Dots. Not one single malfunction.

My friend and I were short on time, so I ended up leaving my SW99 fullsize and SW990L compact in the bag, but I've fired them enough times, that I am sure of my assessment: the Shield kicks no worse than the SW99 FS and is tamer than the SW990Lc.

After the first 100 rds tonight, I did realize the palm of my hand had some mild discomfort, but it didn't affect the remaining shots, and I really didn't notice it anymore. My mind either tuned it out, or it was that insignificant. (Weeks ago my other friend's XDS left my hand hurting after two mags.)

I was more accurate with this pistol than I am with my 990Lc. This range had a line painted but with no marking for distance. It was either 5-6 yds. When i followed my friend's advice on technique, I was grouping inside a 3" circle minus a few strays that were within 5". Before a little mental fatigue set in, I was as tight as 2". For me and a non-single action trigger, I was more than pleased!

The only peculiar thing I noticed is something I am unsure of. I don't know if it was me or the pistol. Both last week and tonight, out of every 100 rds, I had maybe 4-5 rds where I would bet money that the breakover point came quicker than all the other shots. Is there anything to explain that in either the trigger function or how I was handling the pistol?

I have noticed while dry-firing, sometimes a few pulls do feel a little lighter than others. I know that if I pull the trigger briskly it feels like less force is required than a slow and deliberate pull. My only explanation is my finger muscles jerked the trigger making it seem lighter or like it breaks over quicker. <shrug>
