I Guess the 10 MM is Enough for Bears

Article mentioned that the bear was previously wounded.
Could that have been a contributing factor to its death?
That said, I'd still have wanted more firepower if faced with that bear!!!

Wow, one of the few positive things I’ve heard about the M&P 10mm. Just kidding :D

When I was working in AK, the G20 was becoming popular with the locals for critter protection. I still thought the 10mm was a little small for such duty and carried my 375 H&H or 12 gauge along with my 4” 500.

I have since discovered 10mm handguns, e.g., a couple 1911s, a couple 610s and a G29. Stoked with BB’s 220 grain hard cast, they are now my preferred woods guns.

Thanks for sharing.

There's a link in the article to a podcast wherein the hunter recounts his experience. Looks interesting, but is also over an hour and a half.

Based on pic are we sure the hunter is not Chuck Norris ? Using an alias perhaps ? Maybe he did a mag dump then a spinning back kick. Walker style.

Confirms my opinion, the 10mm is arguably the best all around pistol cartridge. No it's not a 44 Mag but you got 14+1 rounds of more power than a 357 Mag. Load it up for the woods or load it down for self-defence. I've got a Tanfoglio 10mm and it's my favorite.

I would carry a Glock Model 20 10mm and if I was charged by a angry bear I would first throw a recent soiled depends in the bear's face and then empty my 10mm into the bear. If all this didn't stop the bear, call for an air strike.
 You can practice with a pistol, but I'm not going to ask how you practice a quick draw with Depends.

If you can deploy a Depends faster than a pistol, "you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."

I have relatives that live in Fairbanks. They teach at the University. They carry Glock 20/29’s with 15 round magazines when fishing/hunting, in across the chest holsters. Buffalo Bore hard cast ammunition is a must. A 12 gauge shotgun with slugs is also a favorite when their hands are free. They feel that Glocks are a good choice for reliability and cost reasons.
