Usually, that assumption would be good HotRoder. However, with the demand that S&W faced for the Sport, and then the 15T, you can't be sure where the parts came from. I say this because the S&W marketing guy said that all uppers were forged in house, when they were doing a demo of the Sport at Gunsite. However, once they hit the market and demand started to outpace supply, we started seeing forge markings on Sports that indicated that they came from other forges than S&W. These were on brand new, out of the box rifles.
I have also seen posts on other boards where, when measured, the dimensions of the RE were in fact commercial on some S&W rifles.
Point being, they may have had to get parts from other suppliers, or subbed out part of the build, so it is best to measure. Properly calibrated calipers don't lie.
