I have the silver washered walnut K frame target grips that once held a brass "head knocker" or butt plate that was sometimes seen on Police Department guns in the late 60's through the 80's.

The grips themselves need some spiffing up and are in overall decent shape, but the grip plate is gone. I would like to have another made for it. They came on a Phoenix PD K frame.

Who or what company can do that for me? It's out of my league of DYI.

I am a little confused. How would you mount the plate? Would the bottom of the frame be drilled & tapped? If the plate was held on by screws from inside the grips, how would you mount the grips onto the frame. I guess you would have to install the grips on the frame and attach with screws from the bottom up through the plate, but the threads in the wood don't look too deep.

This was made by a company out of Texas I believe.

I’ll have to pull the plate off and get the makers name if interested.

I think I remember that company. It was called "Nelson Silva" in Houston I believe. They are out of business now. They made custom rodeo belt buckles too.

If you notice, your cap has a different screw attachment. Yours are attached up and down, whereas mine are side to side.

Somebody on here had one exactly like mine a few months ago, but it was attached to an aftermarket Herret style stock.

Again, somebody on here had one very similar to mine except it was on a aftermarket Herret style grip.

From what I remember, the screws were permanently attached to the grip plate from underneath and the plate was only removeable when the grips were removed. The head of the screws held the grip in place once the both sides of the grip were installed. It's kinda hard to explain without a pic.

I am going to try and find that post.

EDIT: Found it...It was from a few months ago from another member. These look like the identical caps that I need:
