I have no other way of seeing these pictures side by side - S&W or not?

On the one hand I have the gun listed as a S&W 2nd model DA 38 Top Break in my S&W revolver album. Today I wondered - is it really? I wan't sure I had its picture so I took it and put it in my miscellany album with a "what is it" question.

Is it really a Smith & Wesson?

Looks right. Seems to fit the description in the standard catalog. What does it say on the top of the rib?

Did you ever have a totally dumb moment? OH YEAH!!!! That would be me. :D

I looked everywhere and talking to myself I said "Where are the markings? How can this gun not have any markings?" Idiot.

I was doing other things, got a bee in my bonnet and I had just swapped a badly broken, right side stock with a less broken one, the stocks have the "SW" trademark logo, and then my brain went into downtime. Dumb.

Yes, the top of the rib says Smith & Wesson, Springfield, and has a series of patent dates. I think I have answered my own silly question.

Thanks, Alpo!!!!
