I'm not sure what an FM is unless you mean you found it on the road - some minor highways in Texas are designated FM, but that sure is a pretty knife.

Yep,,, flea market. I had been looking for "my knife" for quite awhile and happened upon this beauty at the Don-Wes FM down in the Rio Grande Valley. I am no knife expert by a long shot but the beauty of the thing just sucked me in. Carrying it is akin to using a 686 for CC, but it does what I want it to do.
The “FM” in Texas road numbers stands for Farm to Market.

Someone spent a lot of time on that file work. Not something like I've ever seen at a flea market here in West Texas.
I love Damascus and the handles and file work are just a plus. thanks for sharing. lee
If I found that at a flea market, I’d probably buy it too. Ram’s horn? What does the etch on the blade say? Are there any other markings?

It says Texan Knives on the blade which is the only marking I see. Their web site says they started business in 2010 and were mainly making Damascus blades although they are now getting into other metals. They seem to be in the quality knife business.

To show my ignorance about knives,,, what is the file work ? Is it the serrations on the back of the knife ?

Butler, PA is a long way from the Rio Grande valley! I used to live in the Shamokin/Mount Carmel area but have lived in South Texas for 15 years now. I see those knives at gun show here. The examples I've examined are made in India though!

Yep,, a long way from home as we spend a lot of the winter in McAllen. On the knife,,, the Texan web site says there are counterfeits out there. How can you tell it was made in India ?

The "file work" mentioned is the various rounds and Vs cut into not only the spine of the blade but also, from the looks of it, into the brass bolsters on either side of the blade when it's closed.
That is a very nice looking knife and one I would love to have in my collection.Good snag...and congrats !

The Indian made examples aren't as finely fit or finished as yours is!
