The blame's on you if I start gaining weight? :-)))

I havent had one of these in probably 35 or more years. I see huge packages of them at wally world all the time, but never have taken the bait.

Last time I hunted elk in New Mexico, some store / gas station in a little non-descript town had some in the shelf so I bought one and a pop. It was so stale, like eating a chocolate covered brick....was an RC Cola btw.

Stale you say? I guess so they quit making them in the late 50's.

I am a long time Bro Dave fan.
Saw in him in person twice- once in Biloxi and once in Memphis.
I don't remember if the Moon Pie warning came from him or other source-
But if you eat - drink too many Moonpies and RC Colas, your ******* will have an eclipse.
Bro Dave was a chain smoking, skinny guy.
"I not a chain smoker. I have tried it, they don't stay lit."
I was thinking he was from GA, I know folks who knew him in Atlanta.
Online, I see he's from Tenn.

If you're near a Cracker Barrel restaurant they usually have them too! My luck has been that they're usually stale ! ;)

Funny thing about moon pies. Are tthey MEANT to taste stale or not? The last one I tried was stale--same thing with Kit Kat.

I've had some...once,since it's all the rage in the south we have them here in WV.

I didn't think they were all that, kind of a funky cookie sandwich with marshmallow and covered in chocolate.

The marshmallow twirl cookies you can get are way better.

Now RC is good :D but dammit it's expensive now! I buy soda it's off brand usually Big K from Kroger.

the bass pro shop's store in East Peoria Illinois sell's Moon pies you can by them individually wrapped or a whole box of them.

All our Walmarts sell em. In the cookie and cracker isle. I love the Banana flavored ones the best followed by the chocolate. The vanilla ones I don't like. But being from Tennessee, we were raised on them!

And not with RC cola. A RC cola is best with a pack of peanuts put inside the bottle. It's a portable lunch, that you can eat and drink all at once. And the salty peanuts help offset the kind'a flat taste of the RC cola! I've had Peanuts and RC's since I was a child and I'm 60 now. Dang, I wish I had one now!

IIRC at least one referenc to moon pies came from his "Is you gonna be here when John gets here" story.

There is a Moon Pie retail store that sells Moon Pie memorabilia as well in downtown Charleston S.C. I had no idea what a Moon Pie was until we walked by the store last year. Up here we have basically the same thing called Jos. Louis made by Vachon.

I worked in the same facility for forty three years. The first thirty + years was for Royal Crown Cola C0. When the RC brand was sold and moved to St Louis Cott Beverage bought the facility and I stayed with them until I retired. Over the years I made several trophies for people that were leaving or retiring. The trophies consisted of a wood base with a small name plate a Moon Pie and topped off with an old RC bottle. I should have made one for myself then I could post a pic.

I have to give that a negatory there, Jack.
My wife picked up a box of six from a Big Lots baked
by Chattanooga Bakery, Inc. in Tennessee since 1917.

Mentioned them in the Dr. Pepper thread when a Moon Pie,
peach and homemade sweet tea reminded me of the taste.

I remember people eating them at IOBC in '80.

There are only two things which will make me gag from mere smell alone, eggs and moon pies.
