I Need Help On Identifying The 44 Mag I Just Bought?

Any info would be appreciated. I have Googled it but nothing. I do have a same year combat grips hunter. And I found the same looking gun same year all black for sale also limited but it has a fluted cylinder. mine does not. Mine is said to be one of only 500 manufactured. Well I bought it but still don't know the history.

Well. I am building a S&W magnum collection that I do know about but this one came up on gunbroker and the bids were going crazy so i had to have it. With in reason. I figured it would be a good shooter, but it seems as new unfired so probably another safe queen. However, it is from 1990 so on the fence since it isn't very old. The history of this gun will determine what I do with it. Still can't find the history.

Bought a Smith & Wesson standard catalog book today. Maybe I'll find it in there.

It sounds like you have all the info you need. The description from GB is almost a copy & paste from the SCSW 4th edition. When you get your copy look on page 236. Congrats on your new 6 shooter.
BTW, that one deserves some range time. Enjoy it!

Hey Doug

With the SCSW in your hand you'll realize there is no way you can keep up with all the models and special editions put out by S&W and I'm only talking about the 44 Magnums. Don't know if you plan to collect 357, 41 and 22 magnums as well. Good luck with the quest

Well long story short I am retired and sold the boats and motorcycles. I have always been a gun owner although nowhere near the knowledge of enthusiasts on here like I am with the boats and bikes. Pardon my dumb questions but wanting to learn.

I do have enough on main stream models. I started with 44 mag, then 41 mag. now 357 mag. Thanks!

Yep there it is on page 236. Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Said it was one of only 500 a 1990 model made for Accusport. No other info on what that means. Even though it is a 1990 model it still has unfluted cylinders and believe it or not recessed cylinders. Never seen one that age with recessed cylinders. Thank you for the info!
