Well, that 1911 might not be there. I thought it was in shipment as the seller got the payment,FFL and it was supposed to ship FedEx today. Got an email wanting my phone number.????

He says shipping by common carrier is to much for him to lose. Apparently he hasn't shipped any handguns as an individual and the charges were shocking. I suggested he check with his FFL as he can ship through the postal service for about 15 bucks, but he'll charge for his time standing in line and completing the 1508 form. I may still get it...we'll see.
I went through a similar deal way back when with one of the VERY FEW forum deals that wasn't as clean as a whistle. I maintain that if the seller said he would pay shipping as part of the agreement, he should stand by his word. It's not your fault if he was not educated in the matter, shocking as it may be. My 2 cents.

I know what you men...I've been there. I wondered when I saw he had only 2 posts and those were the sale add. I had been looking for one of these for quite awhile. He had several items in a package that I didn't need, or want. We made a deal for the gun and factory items. UPS and all carriers have increased prices (gas, etc.) but I was surprised at $77+. The last .45 I shipped was $53+. He offered to send a refund by priority mail. I'll know this afternoon if I get the gun or a refund. We have the once a month gun show this coming weekend but I doubt the refund will come in time for that. Last show there weren't any new, or used, S&W 1911s.
For what it's worth, I recently picked up a used S&W 1911 through the forum and it really is a great gun. I'm not a 1911 type guy and this is my first experience with the configuration, but it has been all positive.

I heard from the seller just now. His ffl is going to ship it tomorrow, Priority mail to my ffl. Maybe by Saturday I'll have it.

Now he says his FFL shipped it UPS ground cheaper than US Mail. Probably no insurance. He's more concerned with shipping charges than the customer.

Picked up my S&W 1911 today....he didn't even clean it after the last range trip and shipped it illegally. Selling this gun was his only post on this forum.

Can you explain what you mean by illegal shipping? If you're meaning that it wasn't disclosed to UPS, and it was coming from one FFL to another, I'm not certain that that is illegal.
FWIW, I absolutely love my S&W 1911; it is the most accurate, straight out-of-the-box pistol I've ever owned.
