Yes you can. I've run 2 each of the .410, .45 COLT and .45 ACP loaded into the cylinder. The moon clips are intended for the .45 ACP. Works just fine.

Thanks. Interesting because the S&W website only lists the two cartridges for the gun, not ACP. Are ACP clips included with the gun?

I have a Stevens .310 Single shot .410, a Mossberg 500 .410, and a Bond Arms Derringer in .410 as well... Maybe I need a Henry lever .410 too...

I don't think you can shoot 45 ACP in it. You'd need full or half moon clips and there's not enough headspace for them.

Already answered, but the real surprise is that .45 AR will not fit in the Governor. There's a warning in the owner's manual that it's not compatible and not to try it.

I have a Governor…..love it! Best gun for home defense—unlike a shotgun, it is small enough to move around easily, can shoot bird shot to disable intruder without worrying about shooting through a wall and into neighbor’s house, it’s a revolver that has a lower risk of failure to shoot when needed than a semiautomatic pistol, and it takes a variety of ammo (if there is a national ammo shortage—-which would NEVER happen, as we all know!!).
It’s a lot of fun to shoot. Accurate to 15–20 yards. Well made revolver.
Overall, just a great pistol! Congrats on your purchase!!

It comes with 1/3 and full moon clips from S&W. the cylinder is cut with a recess for them.

"Just one more" lol- I am an opportunistic shopper. If I see something I like, and have the money, I buy it.

The governor and a model 34-1 Kit gun and a model 36 3" j frame were on my "list" for the last 2-3 years, and I got them all this past December, so 2021 ended great for me.
