Coming back from the gun shop (of course) I decided to drive by the house where the "alleged" Golden State Killer/rapist lived. No more police or spectators all over it. Just a young women packing stuff into a SUV in what looked like a hurry. Probably one of his daughters who just found out their dad is the most prolific killer and rapist in CA., or even U.S. history.
It's a nice place with a perfectly manicured yard. I guess a guy who was so good avoiding capture for forty years had to be pretty meticulous.

Our local serial killer was finally caught after many years and whomever bought the house, can't recall if it was an individual or the City, had it torn down.
I believe it is still an empty lot.

Why?

When I moved from Cincinnati to Fairfield OH. I lived about 7 miles from the house where James Ruppert killed 11 family members on Easter 1975 on 635 Minor Ave Hamilton OH.

I've stopped by it countless times before moving to FL. trying to imagine the carnage that went on inside.

It's still standing, and people live there.

I guess I'm morbid?

For the same reason when we moved here we checked out the house downtown where Dorothy Fuentes planted a bunch of Social Security recipients she murdered in her garden. So we could go, "Wow. So that's where that hag buried all those people!". Now here's this perfectly normal house that can remind you that the worst monster you can imagine can live right there in Anywhereville, USA appearing normal as can be.

What will I find there? Hopefully not street and aerial views of shallow graves.:eek::eek:

Nope. They razed the place to cut down on ghoul tourism. This was after Fred West committed suicide while on remand and his wife got life for multiple murders. I am pretty convinced that there were more than were brought up in court.

After the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey in Boulder it was a mess at the family home. People driving by constantly, traffic was a huge problem, too many morbid lookie loos. The next owners of the house planted huge junipers to block the view of the house from the street and successfully petitioned the city to change the address. Crazy stuff this fasincation with crime scenes.

Hundreds or thousands a year pay to visit the OK Corral where a bunch of cowboys got killed breaking the law by not giving up their guns and going for them instead. That's a crime scene.

The house of Ariel Castro, the guy who kidnapped and imprisoned 3 girls in Cleveland for 10 years, was taken down as part of a plea deal where he got life plus 1000 years. I won't editorialize and risk getting dinged, but his life sentence lasted about a week.

Yeah, been there a few hundred times when I lived in Tucson. Been to more than a few crime scenes in my time as well.
