Compact Carry Pistol "CCP"

From what I read IDPA is looking at G19 size pistols for this Division.
I would like to see the size get even more realistic.

For Rules How about:

Barrel Length Maximum: 3.5 Inch
Maximum Rounds Allowed: 6
Allow for reloading methods: Magazines, Speed Loaders, and Moon Clips

The 3.5 Barrel length will catch the G26, G27, XD Sub Compact, XD-S, Springfield EMP, S&W Shield, the M&P Compacts, and lots of others that are REAL Concealed Carry Handguns.
With the Rules as above, Concealed Carry Revolvers would have another place to play.

I am sure this wont fly with the IDPA Board, But it is what I would like to see.

If you are an IDPA member, go to the IDPA website and put your comments in. I agree with you on CCP rules, but unless we keep making that input to HQ IDPA, they won't get the message.

At any time, IDPA members have the ability to send in possible rule changes for consideration by sending an email to [email protected]. We ask that you provide some basic information to help the tiger team understand what is being referenced (specific rule & what it’s related to) as well as providing you the ability to explain your issue as well as your proposed solution.

I hope they don't go 3-1/2" as I will dust off my 945-40, shoot minor 40 S&W, and have a great time doing it.

We will all know in a couple of weeks. I am oping for 3.9" to allow the CZ Compact models into the game. If 3.9" is chosen my bet is the CZ's will easily dominate.

The CCW division is not a sure thing. The Optic division is also being considered and only one will prevail. Some folks want slide mounted optics.

Personally I would like to see them both and also see SSP & ESP Divisions be combined. The scores in each are virtually identical. So much for all the enhanced modifications and how they affect your ability to shoot fast and accurately.

Take Care

I agree, SSP and ESP are very close. Just the physical design of a trigger can jump you from SSP to ESP. I've always wondered if IDPA stands for ...DEFENSIVE PISTOL…why do so many shooters use big guns (some heavy) with long barrels for better scores. They don't conceal carry those guns. Maybe it should be IPGA, International Pistol Gaming Assn. A CCP division could be interesting. It makes sense.

I always shoot IDPA with my G26, would hate to see the change to a max of 6 rounds though, the gun was made with a 10 round capacity in a small concealable package, that's the way I want to shoot it.

CCP

4.1 BBL
8 rnds
9mm or larger
fit in box 8.75x6--1 3/8 thick
I do not have a mic- will our MP "c" models fit?
Thank you

I think you are describing more subcompact or BUG pistols. The only addition I would like to see is require iwb holsters be used. I plan on classifying with my xd45c/PRP trigger. For this year, since ccp has been decided.

The CCP rules aren't different enough from ESP to make it worthwhile; a lot of shooters are already shooting CCP guns in SSP and ESP by choice.
The new BUG rules are more like what CCP should have been, then we could have had Carry Optics as the new division.
I've decided to "DFTP", as my dad used to say - Don't Fight The Problem - so got a 539 for CCP. It's as big and heavy as possible and still be legal.
