If I were a 9mm guy.....

Is this thread in jest?
Seller has been offering those for months at a price that makes my eyeballs pop out on stalks.

Where are they?

I have to admit I am prone to fondling my 5906 and 4006 on a daily basis!
Easy enough to find via the Google (I'm not posting the link - I value my membership here! ;) ).

But Sevens is right. They sure ain't cheap. :( Way too rich for my thin wallet. :o

Yeah, Mr exclamation points in a cave has been advertising these for borking for some time. Crazy $$$$ IMNSHO.

Yeah…I AM a 9mm guy, and I wouldn’t pay that asking price. Maybe half that, on a good day, since they’re reconditioned and have new night sights.

Aw shucks, fellers.....:o

There I was, a-mindin' my own business, and I come across these three purty pistols there on the gun site, and I sez to myself, "Self, one of your compadres on the Forum might just be lookin' for one of them." So I skeedaddled on over and posted up a be-on-the-lookout, even tiptoed up to the edge of the rules but didn't step over, so I'd stay in the good graces of the Boss Man over here whilst still givin' my buddies the heads-up.

I hadn't a-counted on puttin' a burr under anybody's saddle or givin' the scoffers some fresh meat to chew on today. So if'n you don't share my admirin' of those Mountie shootin' irons, jest simmer down and chalk me up to just tryin' to do a favor that didn't quite work out how I'd hoped.

I still think they're real purty! :D

They'd make a real nice set with the Model 19 I found recently.

 :D

It was a nice thought Vigil, too bad it happened to be those over-priced RCMP guns. :o;)

I've been seeing those auctions for some time now and still don't know if the guns are new or used LE trade-ins, or even if they are a 5946 or a 5906. The seller seems to leave that info intentionally vague in a very shady way.

Guess I'm just a sucker for that prancing horse roll mark....:)

Somehow I'd missed that those pistols had been on the auction before.

No offense taken from anyone, by the way....just having some fun with ya....;)

With all the discussion I had to go have a look. True, they were not hard to find.

A little pricey for me but the RMCP stuff adds some character to an all ready good looking pistol. My 5906 looks just as good. Of course after looking at the other high priced beauties I had to again fondle mine!

What was worth the look was the RMCP history. I did not know that the Mounties were issued and carried these two Smiths. I also did not know that it was either the 5906 or 5946 that dispatched the terrorist attacker in Canada.

Well worth the look see.

I think they are priced way too high even if legit, but I have also wondered about those guns. As far as I know, the RCMP issued only the 5946 and 3953, not the 5906, which are what are pictured in that auction ad. Also, I think that the RCMP either ordered the guns with additional serial numbers stamped on the slide and frame or did that themselves and they aren't there on those guns, that I can tell.

Lastly, the RCMP logo on the slides looks larger and slightly different than I have seen in any pictures of RCMP guns.

I am not an expert in this and the guns could be completely legit, but if I were tempted to buy one (and I am not) I would have some concern about the provenance of those guns.

I also don't see any import marks, but they are sometimes in out-of-the-way locations.
