May we assume you have holsters for everyone?

What about the means by which to carry additional ammo?

Have you considered night vision or other means to gain info about your surroundings discreetly?

Is everyone comfortable handling all of the weapons and the various manuals of arms?

I have a 300 blackout AR 8-1/2" barrel pistol with brace, Holosun circle dot sight, and Suppressor. Also a Ruger camo take-down 10/22 with Weaver V1-3X and suppressor and a 4" Ruger 22/45 with red dot sight and it can take the Suppressor from the 10/22. These would be the first to grab plus mags and ammo.

What weapons would you give to the women in your family, and what handguns?

Marcello,

I didn't know there were survivalists in Italy. Nice to know we're not the only place with a few crazies. Sounds like that Land Rover will need a trailer to haul the firearms and ammo. What's the plan for food and water? Is it a long haul from Rome to some more remote spot that is defendable?

I don't give the issue all that much thought as it seems impossible to predict the complications of any calamity that would cause us to execute our plan. Way too many variables. I'm in a congested area too although perhaps not as congested as Rome. I think the biggest problem is getting out of the area before the roads are clogged and become impassable. But, if I can, I'll take the 300 BLK w/suppressor and thermal and as much ammo for it as I can carry. Probably a 6.5 Creedmoor with scope and thermal, a glock 19 and a S&W M60 3 inch which answers the question on how to equip the women. Hate to leave the collectibles behind. . . . . As to food, my plan is to make it to a ranch in the panhandle about 250 miles away and live off the beef and game until whatever happened passes; a tank of diesel will get me there. Of course if it is an iteration of the Walking Dead we might be there awhile. Once the grid goes down things are going to go south very quickly.

I have a plan if I'm here in Rome, I have to reach the safe place 50 km away, I found this place by chance on a wild boar hunt with my Freedom Arms 454 Casull, a hill covered with thick woods with a spring frequented by many wild boars, far from inhabited centers. There is an old abandoned container, they wanted to make a hunting post for wild boar. The container is covered with brambles but you can make tunnels with sheet metal to enter and close them.
If instead I were in Sicily where I have a house with a vineyard on the slopes of ETNA, an active but safe volcano, there are caves perfect for survivalism, lots of game birds and rabbits, some mountain goats.

I have a nice and growing collection of Smith revolvers. They are for me to admire an occasionally shoot.
In the highly unlikely event of us all being in a survivalist situation, I cannot imagine life would be much worth living.
Think about all the things that we take for granted today that would not be available.
We’d basically be cavemen again if it came down to it. And once you run out of ammo, what are you gonna do after that? Because it won’t be readily available like you can just go to the shops and buy it like you can now. Neither would food be available.
There would be nothing fun to do, and nobody would be happy.
Any semblance of life as we know it, if a true survivalist kit was really needed, would be gone.
Not sure I’d wanna be around anyway.
Would probably be time for the long inevitable sleep that will be a lot more peaceful than the life of concentrated fear and worry.

Then again, maybe it would be time to strap on camouflage, Kevlar, suit up, pack all my guns and ammo and head for the woods and become John Rambo, living on a diet of things that will make a Billygoat puke.

I have a shotgun, a rifle and a 4 wheel drive, this country boy will survive.

Actually might have one or two more guns, but I'm not planning on going anywhere if things go haywire. I'll just "bug in" right where I am and all my stuff is. I have a little more ammo than 5 boxes, but just being me the wife and the dog we'll be just fine, until we're not.

I just hope the power grid (A/C) doesn't go out in the summer! I have a wood stove for the cold weather. Woods all around me have food living there.😉
