If we all stopped buying new foreign made firearms...

Foreign manufacturers would stop shipping their wares to our shores

American stores would stop stocking new foreign made guns

We would all do just fine

If a new American-made gun is cost prohibitive, any used gun, American or otherwise, is better for our domestic firearms industry

...can we hold off on this till after I get a new HK P30sk?? :p

If I couldn't buy foreign made guns, I'd have a heckuva lot of Cooeys (and maybe an Inglis HP).

Most of my firearms are domestic (N. American) but I have no problem with importing from elsewhere.

Healthy competition should mean standards are either being maintained or being pushed.

But I'm a Canadian, so I don't really have a dog in this fight.

Nothing is wrong foreign guns
Many are fine weapons and reasonably priced

I want foreign manufactures to stop sending us their products.

You do realize the world you pine for has never really existed, or actually was just an bubble in the immediate postwar era. The late 40's and early 50's of American dominance was due to, oh what was it called, oh yeah, World War 2 where most of the rest of the industrialized world was destroyed, or in the case of the British empire, completely broke and barely able to feed themselves. US industries came out of the war undamaged with an American populace that had been restricted on consumer for 4 years, plus lots of disposable income.
Take a look at Japan. The first industry they dominated post war was the cheap tin toy market. Next was the inexpensive electronics market.
The truth is, we have been involved in foreign trade since before the country was founded.

Well, there goes every electronic device, appliance, automobile, piece of furniture, article of clothing, my vinyl siding, some of my meds, half my ammo, a sixth of my firearms, my toothbrush, my cookware, my cutlery, half my tools, my pine scented car freshener, my tea and coffee, my furnace and coffee filters (interchangeable), my Swedish fish, my Guinness, my Jameson's , etc, etc.
