If you were to do it all over again, what platform would you buy?

We all started somewhere and over time have put many hours and thousands of rounds through many different platforms....

Knowing what you know currently... If you were starting all over again, which platform would you buy first??

For me, its a toss between Glock and Beretta...

Glock for simplicity but I do like the DA/SA of my Berettas for AIWB carry...

I'm still experimenting, I do like my Block, Springfield XD, Kimber micro, the 1911 even the Bersa.

Great question. Remington 700’s of the 70s and 80s for rifles and anything pre 2002 Smith and Wesson performance center for handguns.

Silly question and a simple answer.

(at least to people that have been around for awhile, not a newbie that just got started)

The FIRST platform, would be a 1911. Not a clone or wanna be, but a real Colt. Of course, a .45 ACP.

The second choice would be a S&W Model m 39 in 9mm.

How could there be any other possible answer?

(Glocks and Berettas are simply laughable as a starting point)

I have been blessed to have shot the ones I have shot. My first was a Model 14-3.
Wishes counting, I could not afford one Colt SAA cased with the old wood grips in nickel, unfired and like a mirror in a box, that was at an auction. I would buy one of those first and maybe a Python to start my small group.
That saying, I like 6" blued K and N frames.

Not in the order in which they were bought but rather the order I would have bought them.

Colt 1911
Winchester Mod 70 Super Grade pre 1946.
Winchester US M-1
Marlin model 57M
S&W model 28-2
S&W model 39-2
S&W model 59-2
Ithica Model 37 16g
Belgian Browning A-5 Light Twelve

I don't own either of them other two you listed and haven't ever and most likely won't ever.

Well I thought it was a good question. I started out with .22lr competition pistols. When I joined the Police, naturally my interest moved to Revolvers and then to Glocks.

All things considered (with Australian gun laws etc), if I were to start again, it would be with a CZ Shadow 2 or a CZ Tactical Sport 2.

Humm .

In sequence , was S& W K frame , Ruger SA , actual Colt 1911A1 , still good choices today .

Gotta love the Colt 1911/45s.
So many great wheelguns.
The 460s for sure.
Our 45 Convertible Blackhawk 7.5", with the stainless grip frame, is everyone's favorite tack driver.

And the Colonel, only member of the base Pistol Team, said to this young smallbore NCO in '68, "how's that new HS 22 autoloader going".

I had just turned 21 and said, "Starting to get familiar with it Sir".
"I'll leave you a Colt and 500 rounds for daily practice and in a year you'll start to get the hang of it", were his always smiling and most useful replies.

I woulda bought a lightweight Commander instead of the Combat. And kept my first model 60.

Started with shotguns and 22 Rifles.
Went through just about every type of smoke pole on the planet.
Overall Prefer older Smith Revolvers.
Lately seem to be turning back to 22s, Handguns more than Rifles.
