Last eye exam was a wake up call, hadn't realized just how much my close up vision had been fading.
So besides new reading peeps, picked up these illuminated magnifiers, come with 4 different strength lens.
After getting them, looked at some guns I had recently cleaned...and realized I really hadn't.

Those are amazing. Looks like a high tech version.

I have an old jewelers light with a round magnifier. Like this.

I like to buy the cheap, dollar store type of reading glasses.

I buy several pairs of high magnification readers, like 3.00 or 3.50 power.

Not for reading, but for close-up, detail work on small things.

Very handy, go anywhere, and inexpensive.

My friends Jeweler store uses something very similar to these in the manufacturing and repair areas. It does not matter if the jeweler's eyesight is good or bad, EVERYBODY uses on.

So I got myself one as well. Mostly so I could see to change the batteries in my Mother's watches . . . She loves cheap watches and I must change 50 or 60 batteries a year

But it happens to work very well for firearms also :)

The ones I got cost $29, came with 4 sets of different power lens, built in light is perfect for detail work.
Get older and your vision goes, your hair goes, and...hell, I forgot the third thing

Personally my preference is a good incandescent lamp over my work area and an Optimizer head band.

I do have one of those illuminated magnifiers on a swivel but never use it any longer since I bought the Optimizer.
