I'm cold!

It was in the low 20's when I went out to do chores early this morning. There are still patches of snow on the ground from last week's little storm. The kids and grandkids are here for the weekend. It was a good Thanksgiving.

Right now, I've been dozing in my rocking chair in front of the wood stove trying to thaw out from morning chores, border collie Suzy lolling by me in front of the fire. Everyone else is in the other room watching the Ohio State/Michigan game.

The granddaughters want to ride horses today. Yes, I'll accommodate them, but I'm hoping that the temperature will at least get into the mid 30's before I go out and saddle the horses. I've already brought in some bridles to get the bits warm enough so they don't freeze the horses' mouths. Kids seem to be impervious to the cold, unlike Grandpa, but if they want to ride, that'll be fine.

We had a good Thanksgiving and am hoping you did, too. While I'm relaxing in front of the fire, I can't help but be thankful for such things as family, good friends, a nice warm fire, and a horse that won't hump its back too much when I throw a cold saddle on him.

Here's wishing you a relaxing weekend and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the moderators and all the good folks here on the Forum.

I guess I'd better slip into the old wool mackinaw and go out and catch a few horses.

While bright and sunny it is a balmy 29° here. I layered up like a nesting doll and tried to take a short walk. I made it to 6 houses and headed back to the barn.

I am now, with coffee in hand, staring forlornly out the window at my porch swing.

It misses me.

PS: Ruthie is home today so I have the hand warmer thing covered.

Kicked back and watching it snow. Not real cold but looks to be about 3 inches. Forecast says it will be melted by Monday. But still got three months to go. Gee I hate winter.

As I was walking into Planet Fitness this morning around 4:45, it was 23 degrees with a bit of the wind smacking right in the face. I had to ask myself "Why am I doing this?" I couldn't answer the question other to say "I don't know!".

Just finished making the venison Jerky.
Half mild & half spicy. About 1.75 lbs total.
Buddy who got the buck made summer sausage and gave me abut 2.5 lbs.
Have to tire some later today.

High of 36 here today, after two weeks of 50's and 60's. Temps predicted in the teens every night and not over 35 all next week. Snow starts about midnight. Yuck! I hate winter, and it's not just because I'm old and skinny.

16f with wind gusts to 25mph here. Transitioned to the colder temps takes a few days longer when one gets older. The wood fire does feel good and so does the feeling of bagging a nice whitetail buck last Sunday just before the cold snap started.

single digits last night, and will be again tonight. Temp has to get into the 20's with some sun to warm up the walks before Zelda and i take our walks. Just transitioned from early morning walks to early evening cause of temps. She gets bored, but cuts her outside time to minimum in the cold.

Low 30s here. Supervised my stepson (17) putting his snow tires on his Subaru Outback. Took the mower deck off the Kubota and put front loader and rear blade on. All while my wife put up the tree.

I don't need the heat just yet but 6pm and already it's down to 61*. There's about 10 days/yr a fireplace is handy, I'd probably throw another log on the fire today. When I build a fire I want it visible from the Space Station. Joe

It was 42 this morning about the time I got up. Normally take a couple 2 mile walks every day morning and evening, but I felt a bit poorly so I went back to bed after breakfast. Felt a bit better after that but I still took another nap after lunch. A hot shower after I got up again helped a lot but still not quite right. Will likely hit the hay early tonight.

We still haven't gotten below freezing here yet this year. Usually at least once by the end of November. Looks like highs in the 60s all week with lows from mid 30s to mid 40s. A little chilly, but definitely not cold. Yes, I have used my heater a few nights this month to take the chill off. But I'm a guy who likes to keep it around 78 in the summer and 75 in winter, so . . .

Low at 40 @ 7 AM today, High about 61 or 2. As I am on the shady side of the hill my kids place is a bit warmer. No storms next weeks forecast. Hope there is not another drought coming. Calif. is in bad shape as it is, don't need more problems.

I left Monroeville, PA east of Pittsburgh this morning after breakfast and it was 17 degrees for just the ambient temperature. Luckily it didn't get the heavy snow like up around Erie. Basically, the farther east I got the warmer it got and by the time I reached Gettysburg it was above freezing.
