(I just had new upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends and sway bar links installed on the old exploder at 100,000 miles and the inner three inches of the front blizzaks are bald)
Loaded up the baby cat at 7:30 this morning for a trip to the vet to get spayed and it's freezing out.Front tire goes flat a block from home. Drive back, hook up the compressor and it holds air! It's cold out and I broke a cheap air hose. Make it to the clinic, halfway home they call me to come back and sign the paperwork so I say yes ma'am. Stop at discount tire and order 4 new tires and I'm home by 9!
Thank god I'm retired [emoji23]

Yeah, chewing the inside or outside of the boots is usually a sign that the suspension needs major work. One thing I will say for the UK system of rigorous annual inspections (the MOT as it's called), it never gets that bad. Your truck would likely have failed the MOT a few years back.

I can't believe I never noticed, but driving on the highway I was thinking explorers have horrible handling 😆

Dunno about Explorers, but a brand new 2000 Expedition I test drove clearly had a hinge in the middle.

First SUV I had here was a S-10 Blazer. Put the brakes on hard one day for a light that changed at the wrong moment and there was a loud clunk follow by a distinct change in steering feel. When I got home I did the British standard ball joint check and sure enough the front right was toast. Took it to a shop and I had to show them how to find the issue.:mad::mad:

At least I caught that one. I was changing the brake pads on a car in the UK for a more fade resistant set when my buddy stopped by. He bent down to see how I was getting on and says, "Steve, am I supposed to see daylight between the anti-roll bar and its bushing?" Oops. Fixing those took a lot of wander out of my driving.:o
