Hi, can someone tell me what the dash or no dash jargon is all about? I am new to wheel guns and smiths in general. I like them and would like to know about them. Thanks.

The dash refers to the design changes during the life of the pistol.

Example-

66

66-1 Change of gas ring from yoke to cylinder.

66-2 Eliminate cylinder counter bore and pinned barrel.

and so on.

One thing to understand is that the dash numbers and modifications on one model most likely have nothing to do with the same dash number on another. And the time between two dash numbers could vary widely.

A good reference book is the best way to keep it straight.
