Improved trigger pull with spring swap

A few months ago at a gun show I picked up a FCG spring set for $15. It showed as lowering the trigger pull to 4 pounds by replacing the springs of a MILSPEC trigger. I mainly picked it up to get my nephew to install it in his rifle instead of spending $100+ for a drop in trigger group. Anyway, he always has better things to do so I said the heck with it and installed it in my 15-22 yesterday evening instead of dropping money on a CMC 3.5# single stage which I have in 3 other rifles, plus have to buy longer pins.

The swap went pretty good even though I could not find a long allen wrench to remove the handgrip to remove the safety. I decided to give it a try anyway and after removing the trigger/hammer spring and removing the hammer I was able to remove the trigger with a little bit of wiggling. The trigger went back in with the new spring with the same finess and reinstalled the trigger pin followerd by the hammer and spring, sear as well. Tested for function and it worked as it should but with a lighter trigger pull than before. It feels pretty close to my CMC triggers.

I grabbed a mag and went outside to my range, 25 rounds on steel with zero issues.

EDIT: BTY the spring set is painted powder or baby blue and was packaged in a small ziplock bag with a label that showed 4# trigger spring set. There was also a 4.5# spring set available

I've used the JP reduced power springs to similar effect.

Light hammer strikes are a possibility, but I've not experienced that with any ammo I've tried.

+1 on watching for light strikes. I use the CMC 3.5# drop ins because of light strikes with other brands. A shooting buddy installed his hammer spring under the trigger pin rather than on top and had very light strikes. That is the equivalent of a light hammer spring IMO. I'm in a group of 20+ shooters who shoot a weekly speed match where one malfunction will put you out of the running. At least 95% of us are running 15-22's. Of those, over half are using CMC triggers, another few using factory, and one or two HyperFires. Several shooters, myself included, have tried other drop ins such as Velocity, with mixed results. The Velocity is a great unit for 223 platforms, not 22's.

i would like to have a lighter trigger but i sure dont want to put 150 into a drop in trigger,,, i put an elfton drop in trigger in my anderson ar,,,,, it is a very sweet trigger
