Is it legal to ship a rifle or shotgun to a legal resident of your state? I hadn’t come across this before. A guy wants to buy a rifle from me. He is Ohio resident, with Ohio address. He claims I can send rifle directly to him. I’m not sure even though it’s legal to ship long guns in USPS
How do they get around purchase form and background check? I know at gun show most will show license for proof of age and that’s it unless buying a handgun which requires buyer to be resident of same state as seller. Anyone know this for sure?

There is no federal law prohibiting the resident of a state from sending a rifle or shotgun to another resident of the same state via USPS.

That said, I know nothing about Ohio state laws, and some states impose additional restrictions.

Yes no law prohibits it, but good luck finding a shipper who will do it.

You can ship a rifle or shotgun USPS direct in the same state (unless state law prohibits it). No handguns though unless you're an FFL shipping to another FFL.
