I had not tried any of this ammo and a friend gave me a box to try. I loaded 7 rounds in my standard Shield and they functioned fine and were very accurate. Tried a mag full in my Shield Ported and had 6 failures to feed. Rounds 2-6 did not activate the slide enough to extract. Two of those, when hand cycled, did not return to battery. This pistol has shot everything I've put through it so far with no hiccups until this. I'm guessing the porting has an effect since they ran fine in my other Shield. Regardless of the reason this will never be considered as a defensive round by me not that it would have been anyway. In case anyone is thinking about it you might run some through that ported Shield to see if your results are different from mine.

But wait! These are magic bullets. So good that Ruger is selling them under their name. Shocked, I am.

A ported shield is a great IDPA BUG.

Ported guns are a poor choice for low light self defense situations.

Out of curiosity, I bought a hundred rounds of round nose polycase and put some through my Glock 43 and my Wife's M&P 9c. I didn't have any feed issues, and it was just as accurate as regular ole' round nose. However, I didn't perceive any reduced recoil with either pistol, and it sure makes more noise when fired. As such, I'll stick with what's proven.

To each his own but in my experience a ported 9mm is no different than a non-ported one in low light. The flash is so quick it does not have any blinding effect for a follow up shot. A .44 mag, maybe but not a 9. Obviously YMMV.;)

Compare firing from the hip

If you're speaking of particles coming up and striking you maybe but the hip is a a long way from the face. Since you're looking at your target I can't see the flash being even as bright as it would if shooting from the Weaver or similar stance. I have shot mine from the hip and didn't notice any issues. Again YMMV.
