A LGS has a S&W Model 66 with a 4" barrel formerly issued by the ISP. It has the ISP and serial number over the trigger on the left side of the frame and on the sideplate is the ISP logo. The gun looks like it sat in storage and is in excellent condition; the target stocks are pristine. They have $900 on it...good deal???

I think they've added a couple of hundred because it has the Indiana State Police markings and the LGS is in Indiana like you, I assume. I do understand the attraction of having one's own state's agency gun, though, as I bought a North Carolina State Highway Patrol M66-1 two years ago from a former trooper. He had received the gun as a gift when he graduated from the patrol Academy in the '90s, so he had never carried it, and he had left the patrol later for another LE job so he didn't have any special desire to keep it. It's my favorite K frame now, and the $625 I paid for it is, in retrospect, one of my best gun deals.

These came out in 1983 as a set that they offered to Indiana State Police Officers. It was the 66 stainless handgun and a Ruger Mini 14.
They made 500 of them and they each had the ISP 50yr logo on the side. The pistol came in presentation case and the rifle had a padded case each with the logo as well.

Cant remember exactly what they could purchase them for but my dad ended up getting one and still has to this day.

I agree with other comments......maybe 150-200 high on the price. I saw an unfired ISP 66 in the case within the past year at a show and the guy was ASKING 800 for it.

Neat set and limited number made but you see them turn up every so often here in Indiana.

Adding to what has already been posted, agency issued guns are niche items. Some like myself and other have an affinity for guns that have seen time in a holster on the hip of a badge totter. The big debate is do they garner a premium. The other, somewhat smaller, niche are agency commemorative guns. Sellers think they are worth more than the same non scratched (engraved) gun in equal condition. When in fact they really are not very desirable to the average Joe. The one you are eyeballing is particularly less desirable because as CoolColt has written it was part of a set that is not complete. Hope this helps. hardcase60
