Info requested on the 619

I already did a search on this forum and nothing came up, so Ill start this thread to see if y'all can help me out.

I just won an auction on GB for what looks to be a very clean 619. I know it's a 7 shot L frame produced in the mid 2000's, fixed sight bull barrel along the lines of the model 65. What I can't find is any long term reviews, only the typical model introduction articles from the usual gun magazines.

Does anyone here have one, and if so I would appreciate your impressions of the gun. I paid $430, deal already done, so if that was too much, oh well, it was the least expensive 7 shot L frame I could find and it will fill the role I intend for it, that is, a durable combat revolver that will handle a steady diet of magnum loads.

I will post pics once I get the gun next week, but I would love to see any pics others have of mods they have done.

One last request, how expensive would it be to change the front blade sight to an XS style sight

The reason you don't see much is the same you don't see much on Model 10s. They just keep chuggin' along doing their jobs and there is "nothing to report."

Changing the front sight is more trouble that it is worth, and is cost prohibitive, in my opinion.

Use it "as is." Or use some model store paint to paint the front sight red or blaze orange or something, and then leave it alone.

Sounds like a good deal to me. The 619/620 series isn't made anymore, is it? I thought it was a good idea, but some folks didn't care for the sleeved barrels, I think.

I'd jump on that deal if I saw it, though.

Mad as h@@l, and I dont know what to do about it

So I started this thread and some of you were nice enough to post comments, I appreciate that. So the FFL got the gun on Friday 9/27, didnt notify me I had to call them. They wont give me my property until the ONE GUY! that handles the ffl transfers comes back on Friday 10/04! I already paid them for the transfer in cash, I got nothing to hold over them. Unreasonable doesnt begin to describe this situation. Anyway to those of you that posted to this thread I'd love to post pictures, but I cant even get the item I already paid for...GGGGRRRR!

Sorry to hear of your troubles; a search for a more customer-friendly local FFL may be in order.

Speaking of searches, you may find more information by using the Search Site/Google function after clicking on Search at the top of the home page. Typing model 619 here should get you 1,270 posts, and will tide you over with reading material until 10/4 . Hope this is helpful.
