Whatcha think? Should I cerakote the slide or leave as is? I kinda like it natural.

I like it! Where did you get it done? Was it spendy??

I think I know where :)... My 40c slide was in the pictures posted.

Doug Presson ;)

Fair pricing, good communication, and different options.

I am having mine coated so I won't have it until the end of the week beginning of next.

But I do like the look on the fs slide in the raw finish. But the red dot looks out of place in desert on it.

I would say it is up to you.

I'm pretty sure it won't work. I mean, there's no barrel....;)

Is this just cosmetic or is there a functional purpose to doing this to your slide?

Oh yes they do work. Theres a barrel in my pics. =-)

But i hope most people understand that when u take weight away from the slide. They need to install a heavier recoil spring to account for the "now" lighter slide.

Cosmetic basically and of course u could say it keeps the barrel a bit cooler when throwing lead down range.

Cost $360 (includes $25 tip)

Slide prior to work = 11.9oz
Slide after + MRDS 10.8oz

Reduced slide weight to slightly reduce felt recoil, drastically reduce muzzle flip and changes how the recoil feels. Recoil is now snappy feeling. Recoil feels like compensated pistol.

Using a DPM recoil guide rod (comes with 2 springs, but using lighter of the two springs). Have not tried the heavier or oem guide rod yet. Eventually I will try them and 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20lb springs to see which combo produces the most reliable and lowest felt recoil and muzzle flip while using factory ammo. However I think something between 11-14lbs spring will produce best results.

This is completely contradictory. How can less weight reduce felt recoil and muzzle flip?

Usually, people add weight to reduce recoil and muzzle flip.

Slide is moving mass, less mass faster back on target.

Adding weight to the frame also helps with recoil. That is why steel guns are easier to control over a poly gun. The recoil and slide have to get more stationary mass moving with steel

Basically he should go tungsten guide rod and lighten the slide as much as practicable to reduce muzzle flip. The addition of a threaded barrel and compensator is the next logical step as well as a beefier recoil spring and possibly a shock buffer. The increased slide speed creates a danger of cracking the slide. Then some 124's at long OAL and she should get very very flat. He's got a fairly good starter open gun.

There is plenty of meat remaining if you ask me...
