I installed a smooth 0.400 target trigger on my 4" shooter grade 28-2. Case hardened and nicely matches the hammer. Not sure if it will improve the shooting but it is very nice pull in both double and single action.

I've got a four screw 28-0 with that trigger. It also has a white insert front sight and a slick action job. A good friend of mine has a 28-2 set up the same way. Looks like the same guy did the work and we were wondering who. Mine and his are great shooters. I really like the slick .400 trigger.

My NYSP 28-2 has the smooth trigger, red insert front sight and white outline rear as well.
I seem to remember someone on the forum more knowledgeable than me posting that The New York State Police ordered the guns set up this way from the factory.
I do know my gun has one of the smoothest action I've ever encountered.

My model 28 has target hammer and target trigger which I wish it didn't. I much prefer smooth triggers. The majority of my revolvers that had serrated triggers were polished smooth by my gunsmith. I would not do that to the target ones and hope to swap out to original configuration soon. I never lettered the 28 but doubt it was shipped that way. Also came with target grips, no box etc.

The 6" M28-2 I own had one when I bought it, and I wish every revolver I have had the .400" smooth combat trigger.

I had a 6 inch 28-2 that I sent to Dave Chicoine, who shortened the barrel to 5 inches and re-installed the front sight and ramp, and put a red ramp in the front sight. He did an excellent job and I really like the 5inch length on N frames.
I usually install color case hardened target hammers and smooth combat triggers, regardless if the gun is a blued model or a stainless steel model.
I had a 5 inch 27-2 that I foolishly sold to a friend and missed it, so I recently bought a 27-3 with 5 inch barrel. It was delivered to my dealer this morning, so I will be picking it up later today.:)

Those cocobolo stocks are some of Kim Ahrends' finest work. They might be some other wood that Kim used but excellent regardless.
