I received my new Hi-viz front sight today and the first thing I noticed is that it doesn't have the hole drilled for the pin. Do I need to take it to a smith to have the new sight installed or is there some "trick" to installing it without having to drill it. If it needs to be drilled does anyone know the bit size it requires. Looks mighty small.

Yes, the new sight has to be drilled in-place and then the pin installed. While it seems to be a simple operation to simply drill a hole, do yourself a favor and have a gunsmith that has done this (installed a new sight in a S&W revolver) before and understands how to do it correctly.

If you have a drill press and a drill press vise it is easy, if you don't you might get the hole off center so it is probably better that you take it to a gunsmith.
