Who's anticipating one?

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm expecting a 15% discount on my next renewal but also expect to get the usual runaround from them.

At least once a year I see an increase in my premium with wording that says "This new figure includes your safe driver's discount".

Change "safe driver" to "15% discount" and just pay the darn thing.

I just emailed my agent today.

Her response:
"Yes, a refund is in the works Auto Owners is currently waiting on approval from the Department of Insurance Services, this will be on a portion of the monthly premium for April and for May.

From an email I received from GEICO...

As part of GEICO's ongoing efforts to assist customers during this unprecedented time, we are announcing The GEICO Giveback which provides a 15 percent credit to all auto and motorcycle customers as policies come up for renewal, between April 8, 2020 and October 7, 2020. This credit will also apply to any new policies purchased during this period as part of our commitment to protecting the wellbeing of our customers.

The credits are expected to average $150 per auto policy and $30 per motorcycle policy. With roughly 18 million auto policies and 1 million motorcycle policies in force, we are proudly providing a total benefit of approximately $2.5 billion to our customers.

The $150 auto discount would be inline with my 6 month renewal fee but it wouldn't surprise me if there was something they weren't telling me. My renewal would start in July so it's possible that the discount would only apply through October. Either way I wont know for sure until I get my renewal in late June.

Progressive is giving a 15% discount for 2 months. Most were forced into doing something after All State made a ad campaign out of doing it. Of course in my area they are about 30% higher than most so they could afford it.

Just went to GEICO's website and it's good news!

The GEICO Giveback

To provide relief during COVID-19, GEICO has chosen to credit our customers 15% for your next full policy term! That is the entire 6 months of your policy. For example, if your policy is $1,000 for 6 months, your credit will be $150 at your renewal. We will take care of you, so you don't need to do anything. We don't know how long this pandemic will last; but know, GEICO is here for you. We are all in this together.

You folks are getting ripped off.

I read an article stating that Insurance companies stood to save close to $100 billion dollars during the Covid virus due to people not driving (as much) and therefore claims were minimal compared to normal times.

Like I suggested in post #1 I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if my premium was raised on GEICO's part to offset the discount. It's what they all do and if you choose to change companies you'll get a better rate until they decide to do the same thing as your previous insurer.

Allstate just sent out a notice that they were giving a 15% discount for April & May. I didn't even bother to try to figure it out since I knew it wasn't going to be a lot.

State Farm
April 9 at 5:02 PM ·

Announcing the Good Neighbor Relief Program! Our customers with auto policies in force between March 20 and May 31 will receive on average a 25% policy credit (no policyholder action needed). More than ever, being a good neighbor means everything.

Nothing heard from State Farm but then neither do I expect it. My rates have slowly crept up over the last couple of years from around 47.00 per month fo auto to around 57.

My State Farm Auto/Homeowners account has an announcement that SF will return $2B to Auto Policy owners in the form of Policy Credits starting with the next billing period in June. Average credit about 25%...

We switched both Auto and Homeowners from USAA TO State Farm due to an unresolvable difference of opinion with USAA’s Homeowners Insurance. We’ve been happy with State Farm, so I believe they will do as they said.

One of our cars is just sitting in the garage, so we cut back coverage to a minimum. More than 15% was realized.
I might reduce the coverage on my car, as it is now used for just low risk, early morning runs to the supermarket, perhaps 30 miles a month.

We're supposed to be getting a 15% rebate for two months from Liberty Mutual here in New Hampshire. I don't think I'll be spending the money just yet.
