Long time S&W fan but no guns in this post. I am on the verge of being a single man again. The up side is more money for guns. The down side is losing my vision and dental supplemental insurance provided through my wife's job. I have Medicare A and B and retired military Tri-care for life. If there are other older retired military guys here can you steer me to a decent economical supplemental plan for vision and dental. I will appreciate any guidance I get and thanks in advance.

I have Medicare and Tri care for life also. I think that Medicare pays for periodic vision checks, for dental care I have coverage from Delta Dental which is provided by my police retirement. I'd think that limited dental and vision coverage would not be expensive.

here the Delta plan costs more per month then my Medicare + Aetna supplement plan premiums combined -

Not military, but saved on eyeglasses by dropping Vision insurance and paying out of pocket at Costco.

I have really good vision coverage, and Costco still comes out cheaper for purchasing glasses. And I think they are better quality than what I was getting through my eye Dr. I still use my coverage for the Doctor's appointment and turn in an out of network receipt from Costco for my glasses.

FWIW: I used to use Costco for glasses. I thought the quality was acceptable. Recently I've used Zenni. I get progressive lenses and frames for less than $100. You've got to have all the information, but if you have a current prescription it should all be there. Sometimes the IP distance is a problem but it was on my Costco prescription so I had it.
In my experience the frames are not as good as some I've seen but I haven't had any problems with the three pairs I've bought. The lenses seem more scratch resistant than Costco's.
I got a pair of extra dark polarized prescription sunglasses and they are wonderful. Especially for fishing.
The first time I ordered I made a mistake entering my prescription and they remade the glasses for free.

Not military either, but i went with an Aetna advantage plan. $28 per month over and above what medicare takes, but i can get $40 per month worth of OTC stuff mailed to the house.. aspirin, first aid stuff, and even tooth paste...also includes some eye care and dental
