Amen! Pushing mental health reforms is the way to go. I like Christie, even if he did shut down the GW Bridge out of spite. He's a no BS kinda guy and that's what's called for.

A "no BS" guy would have vetoed it the first day and not sat around all that time with his finger up in the air.

I live in Pennsylvania. a 10 minute drive to the bridge to NJ. It's really hard to believe Pennsylvania and New Jersey are in the same country. New Jersey might be the biggest nanny state in the country.

I was born and raised in NE NJ and I hate the place. I don't often use that word but it fits. I was there last week traveling through and visiting with my big sis and it gave me the creeps. Of course, my travels then took me to NY, CT and MA. Bah!
My family and I escaped from the state in 1992 and there is no power on earth or enough money to make me return as a permanent resident.

Russ,
I too have left the "Garden State". Grew up in the '40's and '50's in the small town of Freehold. I could come home from school, change, grab my shotgun and walk 3 blocks to the town limits and hunt small game. Imagine a 15 year old doing that today in NJ. Left NJ in the early '60's and will never return. Now live in the friendly state of VA.

Greyrider,

Hatt is exactly right. Just another liar setting up a platform for 2016. Also tried the tricks his Wisconsin buddy used - scapegoating public workers.

The state is much worse, and has been downgraded three times in three years by the credit raters due to fiscal mismanagement.

How do you figure ?
He through the mental health issue at the high and mighty people that shut down three fourths of the state institutions while they were in office and still are in charge of the State Senate.

As for pension reform. We, in the police and fire pension system were self sustaining while paying eight percent into our pension, that went up in two steps to a max of ten percent and 2.5 percent into health care.

Other state, county, municiple workers, and teachers were paying only 4.5 percent into their pension system and zero into health care. The system was self distructing. Why shouldn't they pay more into the pension system?

Now they pay eight percent into pension(where police and fire did all along) and one point five into health care.

Definitely sounds like the type of politician who is more interested in what people think and less about doing what is right.

When I send the kids off to sleep at bedtime it is never a popular choice nor an easy thing to do - but it is what's best - sadly I have not been very effective at making it happen and not only he and I have suffered as a result but so have his teachers and his academic progress. The expedient option is ultimately not the best.

I like his argument for the veto and don't mind he took his time, at least he gave the appearance of deep consideration of the issue.
The argument is when do you stop reducing mag size. Why stop at 10, why not 6 or 2 or none. Sooner or later you get to zero.
