Saw this on a Dateline episode Titled "Stone Cold" about a homicide that occurred in Tucson, AZ, and had to find out if it was real. "Googled 5star headstamp and found the following. The description given was: Made by Aguila of Mexico - 5 star headstamp represents "in-house" ammunition, not meant to be used for commercial use or sale. The 5 star headstamp has been seen on 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 Auto caliber cartridges." New one on me! Thought someone might be interested.:D

I always find this kind of stuff interesting. Did the head stamp help them solve the case?

Yes, it did. After developing a suspect they exercised a search warrant on his home and found several boxes of the same ammunition in his possession. He was convicted of the murder. Nothing was said about how he had obtained Aguila ammunition never intended for commercial distribution in Arizona though, but he was a Mexican import himself! Probably had an inside connection at Aguila.

I don't recall what agency was involved for sure, but I believe it was Tucson P.D. Doesn't make any difference, but the caliber used in the crime was .45 A.C.P. The 9mm in the attachment was the photo in the web article that I found.
