I bought my second Shield 9mm and took it out yesterday for the first time.
I shot about 25 rounds of Freedom Munitions 9mm, 115 gr which I have found to be good ammo and not expensive. There were no issues with the first 25 rounds. During the second 25, the slide would stay back as if locked with the slide lock and not feed a round. I looked and the slide was just stuck there. I could not pull the slide back any further, so I tapped it with my palm and it went forward. It did it several more times with different mags.
I took off the slide and looked for something to explain the problem, but saw the normal guts of a Shield. I oiled the slide even though it did not need it. The next 100 rounds were flawless, using 115gr, 124gr and 147gr. I am thinking there may have been a burr or a bit of metal left over from machining. I did clean it before shooting it, but I may have missed something. Have any of you had this same experience. My other Shield has never done this. I will take it out again and if it does it, I will ask S&W to take a look. Hoping I won't have to send it home.
