I have taken an additional duty at work, and this is to find an inventory management and tracking software program.

Looking for a stand-alone, on-premise program.

Inventory is 95% static except for emergency/natural disaster. The other 5% is loaned out to surrounding counties other agencies and then returned.

Who has some good suggestions?

Thanks for you assistance.

Fishbowl is a Quickbooks product. We use it in our pharmacy and emergency response warehouse (I work for the state Department of Health).

Inventory Management/tracking software

We use a gun software / firearms software that provides gun inventory software tracking (acquisition and disposition) and FFL tracking. The system is called Elliott Firearms Software. We've used the solution for years and it handles all our needs. To learn more about their solution, click on the link below:

I think it will vary greatly depending on things like, is the inventory bar-coded/rfid chipped? If the norm is 95% static, how rapid is the deployment of that 95% when it has to move. And to how many end points is it distributed. Does it need to be tracked as it both loads and unloads for liability? Do you use a warehouse distribution system?

From your statement, it sounds like this is all inventory that gets returned to stock (loaned). Is that true? How often does inventory change. When inventory moves, is it piecemeal or are there larger aggregations of items that can be tracked?

Lot's of questions.

It also depends on how many items that you need to track. If it is only a few hundred items, then a spreadsheet can be adequate.

If you need to have multiple users adding and changing stuff at the same time, then you will need a database server.
