So I have a relatively new iPhone 12. Never had a problem with it. Battery would last quite a while before needing any kind of charge..........UNTIL they sent out a new IOS upgrade. So I downloaded the 16.5 "Fix" that they sent out. Booooooooooo

My battery would not last the night. It would be at 100% when I went to bed and would be at 3% or less in the morning. I would check the battery to see what offending programs was my battery. I couldn't see much that was causing this to happen. Not only was I having problems with the battery but the phone was laggy like you wouldn't believe. I would touch an icon or try to do something and the lag was just incredible.

Next step, Google the problem. Many said they were having problems with 16.5. The fixes that were being recommended were nothing that I hadn't already done. Shut the phone down. Wait for the program to learn your phone. Bla bla bla bla.

Then 16.5.1 came along and I had hopes that they were going to fix the fix that was supposed to have fixed something else. NOPE, it was just as bad if not worse. It almost seemed that while I was actually using the phone the battery would last longer.

I had finally had it. I set up an appointment at the Apple store to get to the bottom of it. After setting up the appointment I was sent an email of things they wanted me to do prior to the appointment. I did them. Backed up the phone to the cloud. I ran a diagnostic program that they had. Last was check for any new downloads. So I did that. Low and behold there was 16.6.

Not being too hopeful I did as was instructed. 16.6 was downloaded. I went to sleep and woke up to a phone that was still almost fully charged. Not only that, the phone had no lag problems.

This concerns me that Apple can make your phone preform so poorly that you think you need a new battery. How many iPhone repair places have sold new batteries to unsuspecting customers only to have Apple fix the issues. To me, this is a huge issue.

I have had an iphone 8 for numerous years. The charging port was funky, you needed to wiggle the plug around to get it to charge and the plug was loose and would fall out on it's own. Took it to a local phone store and they replaced the charging port for $50.00, problem solved. My battery started to fade over time and I would have to charge it up more and more often. Got to the point where it would only stay charged for a few hours and it finally gave me a warning message that there was a problem with the battery. Took it to the same phone store and they replaced the battery for, you guessed it, $50, problem solved. I consider cell phones to be a nuisance and only carry one around in case someone needs to get ahold of me. Couldn't see myself spending big money to replace my phone when it could be repaired cheap enough and still suit my needs.

I have had my iPhone 6 for about 6 years. It is no longer supported by Apple. But, I had been able to continue using it until last week. Then kinda like IAM Rand, I would go to bed with my phone on the charger, take it off the charger when I woke up, it would be 100%, but would turn off with no battery strength before I could even read 3-4 emails.

I am “upgrading” to a SE, and should receive it today.:) I’d rather spend my very limited money on gun stuff than cellphones, so I’ll make do with the SE. It has a bionic chip, whatever that is, and is 5G capable. Will see……

My original point is that Apple giveth and Apple can taketh away. Their programming shouldn't screw up my phone.

Have a friend who got an I phone last year. He had a Samsung before. The I phone sucks breals up all the time and drops calls His wife got the same phone at the same time...no problems. Took it in to see what the problem was and they told him the phone was fine...it was the provider...same as his wife's...duh...My Samsung doesn't want to stay charged...but I can replace it I think..but last version for that.

I still mourn the passing of the Nokia 1100.

If you turned it off when you went to bed and it had 100%, you'd still have 100% when you woke up.

My Iphone is connected to the alarm system/cameras/floodlights. I have video/alarm warning when the neighbor's dog dumps on the lawn at 03:30. Technology is great. Joe

I'm thinking "mini catapult" at 03:00. It's their waste so what can they do? Not really worth cutting knuckles on neighbor's teeth, but, whatever!
