I recently came into some "7.62 MM Long Range M118". The headstamp is LC 02 LR. It this OK to shoot in the M&P10? I have heard about issues with some 308 and/or 7.62 in some semi-auto military rifles. Something to do with the powder, (ball or flake or extruded). This ammo appears to have been loaded by Lake City in 2002. My research indicates it has a 175Sierra HPBT MatchKing bullet.

How much ya want for it? :D

The way I'm reading it is the M&P , as well as others are OK with any .308 commercial and 7.62 NATO ammo. Since 7.62 NATO mil-spec ammo is lower pressure than commercial .308 Win , you're good to go with either.

The receiver and barrel on my DPMS LR-308 is marked .308 Win , not 7.62x51.

In my opinion, Lake City M118 "LR" 175gr & its counterpart Federal GoldMedal MatchKing 175gr Sierra, are "THE ONLY" rounds for consistent precision shooting (without busting your wallet open on Lapua or Barnes).

My 2 cents...
