Is Amazon engaging in backdoor gun control?

I know that Amazon has a number of faults, but sometimes the discounts force you to overlook their shortcomings!

I purchased a Vortex scope off Amazon for a new long-range rifle, with savings of over $200. Being on fixed income, one has to look for financial breaks.

Just prior to placing my order, the item was (and still is) showing as in stock and providing next day Prime delivery. Once my order was placed, delivery was noted as being between Feb 9 and 13, while still being listed as in stock with delivery in one or two days. For the past few days, Amazon Prime was stating that my scope would be delivered today. Later this afternoon, Amazon Prime said the order that was supposed to be delivered today will be delivered in mid-March. During this entire ordeal, the identified seller has changed at least three times! Meanwhile, they are showing 16 different vendors with the same scope available for the same price, with free Prime delivery within three days.

This continuous delay is beyond suspicious! Has anyone else experienced a similar dilemma with Amazon Prime when purchasing a firearms related product?

As always, thanks in advance for your help!

I've experienced similar when purchasing non firearms products. It happens occasionally. Nothing to do with firearms, in my view.

(Pure speculation on my part, but think inventory issues account for the delay, with Amazon trying to source the item from different warehouses/locations here in the US, and then ultimately realizing they need to get it from wherever it is manufactured in Asia.)

Took me over 6 months to get a spool of leather stitching thread even though it was showing as being delivered. When I finally got the package, it was a torn, empty shipping envelope. I reported it and got a spool of leather stitching thread within a week.
Why couldn't they have just done that in the first place?

I doubt it's because the item is firearm related. Chances are their computer or even a real person at Amazon does not know what a Vortex scope is.

I've had similar things happen with them (non-gun related items), hence my hesitation to use Amazon. One item in particular, a decorative household item, was noted as two day shipping. It came from ISRAEL and took THREE WEEKS to arrive. The two day shipping was after Amazon received it from the vendor in Israel.

They must have a problem with Rain-X too. Ordered 2 bottles on the 5th. Next day delivery.

Just now checked tracking again. Doesn't look too promising. Last time I had a package lost thru Amazon, I reordered it, and the original came later that day.

I've had the same thing happen with books, tools and even plastic model paints (I'm still a kid at heart). Nothing to do with firearms. The supply chain is still rickety……..

For big ticket priced items ($$$-$$$$) I really look closely at the seller's ratings before buying from them to ensure that they have good reviews.

This year I decided to cancel my prime subscription due to the cost increase plus I need to curb my spending :)

I don't have a problem with getting my orders, but after I place an order and get my package, it seems like most of the time I get some foreigner calling me and telling me my Amazon account owes me money and needs to know my bank info so they can send it back. I hate thieves. Thieves are close to the lowest lifeforms on Earth; two legged ones, anyhow.

I, too, think it has nothing to do with firearms. Online retailers encounter unforseen supply snags and delivery speed bumps. Overall I believe Amazon does a remarkable job.

Ordered a couple of water filters. For some reason they went to England. After a couple weeks Amazon issued a refund and I reordered. Filters were delivered in a few days. Three months later the original order arrived having gone through Customs both in England and in US.

Cancel the order and reorder from one of the other vendors. It's easy, no hassle. I haven't had any problems with firearm related items from Amazon.

eInventory fail. Happens with other items once in awhile too.

Jeff Bezos is flying to Asia to source one up for you.
He'll be right back :D

Indeed! Yes, Amazon is conspiring with PayPal to rid the world of firearms! They even teamed up with the Chinese who have sent balloons over here to photograph the houses where people who have ordered gun parts live.
Those balloons are delivery balloons from Amazon suppliers...and Biden keeps shooting them down

I ordered a book for my daughter and yesterday she got a sealed but empty envelope.

I had to chat online with a nice fellow (I think) named Athul since there was no "I got an empty package" option available on the automated page.

A replacement is on the way and Athul even said I didn't have to return the empty envelope.

I could have just gone with "never got it" but the sneaky buggers had a picture.

I love Amazon and use it all the time, never an issue with gun stuff.

I recently ordered brake rotors. When I placed the order the supplier said they would be delivered Saturday. Fedex said Sunday, then sent me daily emails extending the delivery day by a day each time, finally ending on Wednesday. They now say they will be here today - 1 day before their last date but 3 days later than their first message. I'm not confident.
I've had a lot of problems with Fedex ground service. USPS and UPS are both better around here.
