Is Barry O about to sign some good Pro-Gun Legislation? I may start liking this guy.

I know there are several topics already on here about the NPS CCW amendment to the Credit Card Bill.

Think about it though. How many Pro-Gun bills did GWB sign? HR 216 for retired LEO's to have CCW. Nice, but it doesn't help me. Expiration of the so-called AWB. GWB wanted it renewed. The NPS policy decision, late last year, had nothing to do with GWB.

What if, by political manipulation or other means, Barry O becomes the most pro-gun president we've had in since Teddy Roosevelt? Wouldn't that be cool? Seriously...

He's already, easily, the best gun salesman this country has ever had. Because of him, more people are into shooting and gun ownership now than in the last 50+ years. More people are aware of the Constitution now than ever before. More people are taking their rights seriously now than ever before. More people are members of the NRA than ever before (I believe...They haven't officially released their membership numbers).

This is not a Right or Left thing. Think of this outside the prism of party politics.

The left leaner had their greatest advances under Nixon, GHWB, and GWB. Maybe it's time for those who demand more 2A rights to ram it down Barry's signature pen. We'd have the almighty threat of 1994 to hold over 'em. Not a bad position to be in.

To quote Harry Knowles, "Ain't it cool?" Maybe this country isn't so bad off after all.

Something to ponder.....

Who knows? The Republicans managed to cram welfare reform down Slick Willie's throat after the 1994 elections. I'd feel more comfortable if they were in charge of congress now.

What have you been ingesting? If you believe that, you are in for major disappointment and depression.

CordWood, Bassamatic, Spotteddog, and any others that missed the point.....

This is intended to be a big 'What if?'

That Said....

He is going to sign this legislation Friday. It will contain a BIG PRO-GUN amendment!

I don't believe for a second that he doesn't want to ban all guns and jail all gun owners. But, what if... Because of him and his stated agenda, we are able to get more Pro-Gun legislation signed into law than in any other time in the past 100 years. It's certainly possible.

Don't knee-jerk some hater response.

Think! It is VERY possible. As such, bring it on. I'll take all the pro-gun, 2A, rights-in-general legislation we can get. I don't care if he's the one who signs it into law.

What if..... The next big 'Want It On My Desk' legislation includes nationwide CCW reciprocity?

It's possible! I believe more possible now than ever.

When dealing with a meglomaniac, give 'em what they want...with a whole bunch of stuff you want.

As Ronaldus Magnus put it... 'Who cares who takes the credit, as long as you get it done.'

BTW, I've (With their blessing) enrolled more than a dozen registered Democrats as members of the NRA. What have you done?

I've taken more than 25 self described libs to the range and had a great time shooting and teaching gun safety. Many of them since bought guns or asked advise what gun they should get. What have you done?

It's easy to spew poop. It's much harder to get off your bum and do something.

Hope I inspired you.

No offense meant....but you're completely delusional.

Sure, Obama will help gun owners.
And while he's doing that, he'll be nationalizing health care. He'll be running up trillions in debt. He'll be making the U.S. the laughingstock of the world. He will be giving aid and comfort to terrorists.
So enjoy your 15 rd mags and pseudo-assault weapons. You won't be able to pay for any of that stuff anyway.

What if he puts the highways under the Dept of the Interior than they ban carrying guns on the highways? Sure you can carry in the parks but not on the highways. How do you get there? Just a thought. Never trust a commie even if he is half white.

Clearly time for us to get back on the old meds.

I think there is a possibility that OCjimmy has a point. Unintended consequences are not unknown in politics. Look at Dick Nixon, supposedly a "conservative" gave us wage-price controls, opened the door to China and said "We're all Keynesian's now". Nixon was an opportunist not an ideologue, sort of like someone else currently in the oval office.
Obama will do nothing to help us that doesn't help him, but that doesn't mean that he won't do anything to help us. He has to appear more centrist to get re-elected and gun rights are popular with many independents, don't be surprised if he doesn't continue to throw a few pro-gun bones our way.
However, his court picks may make that academic. They are the real problem, long lived Trojan Horses, embedded for life in the fabric of the Gov't.

Yep, this is great... all we have to do now is slip some major pro-life clause into the next peice of legislation he wants, then we'll slip some pro-oil/coal/nuclear clause into the next one, etc.

I won't be holding my breath on any of this.

Yea... and wouldn't it be cool if monkeys flew out of my butt.

The only way you could believe this is if you had your daily feeding of Barry's Kook-Aid.

Don't you believe for a minute he will do anything that will hamper his agenda. He is not pro gun in any way, shape, or form. He is a slick politician and the most liberal president we have ever had. Under his watch we will keep leaning toward socialism. Pray for his health can you imagine Gaff a Day Biden or worse that that Pelosi. What a thought!

This thread seems to have just degenerated into conservative Obama bashing, with a thin veneer of 2nd ammendment.

While it may be satisfying to you, it doesn't really help the 2nd ammendment much.

I think that the initial point is an interesting one. Sometimes the opposite side has to do something. I've always thought that way about Nixon opening China, and about Eisenhower making a deal in Korea, for that matter.

But for the 2nd ammemdment, I'm not convinced that it should be a liberal/conservative issue. It should be an American right. And everybody should value it and defend it.

Using it as a wedge issue to get out the vote for your party - as both parties do now to some extent - jeopardizes it.

I hope that we can discuss ways to make the 2nd Amendment safe, even when the Democrats are in power. It should be political bedrock, not a political football.

He needs the bill for its real purpose, which has nothing to do with firearms. The "carry in national parks" amendment was tacked onto the bill precisely because Obama needs the rest of it, ensuring its passage.

Anyone who thinks Obama could be "the most pro-gun president we've had in since Teddy Roosevelt" is appallingly ill-informed about his clearly and oft-stated intentions, all of which are attacks on firearms rights.

True.
And I don't know why TR became a conservative hero since he was a big-government progressive. Maybe all those African hunts or something.
