Is it a Wolf and Klar

Trying to find out if this is a wolf and klar. Owner is looking to sell it to me and doesn't want to wait for a letter. Thanks

In all fairness....a letter won't change the value of that gun unless it went somewhere really special. Wolf & Klar was just a distributor and most trails end there as there are no additional sales records from W&K.

Looks like a great shooter though

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! If I read the SN correctly as 32151, it was made around 1929. IIRC, at that time, almost all the 3rd Model production was going to Wolf & Klar. So, IMO, chances are it did go there. However, based on the condition I see, it won't make any difference in value.

Verify that serial on the back of the cylinder and inside the extractor rod shroud. It has a small trademark stamp on the left side. 52151 would put it around 1938 and the trademark stamp should be large on the sideplate. Also, do the grips have a silver medallion?

By that time, several distributors/dealers/LE agencies were getting the 3rd model. Would value it as the (slightly rusty) shooter it appears to be.

"Wolf & Klar" as a model nickname was applied to 3rd Mode 44s, aka Model of 1926. This nickname is often used irrespctive of whether or not the gun wa actually shipped to the Wolf & Klar distributorhip. If that is in 44 caliber, I think it qualifies as the 3rd model/1926/W&K

In 1938, 320 mixed units of 1926 .44 Specials shipped to Wolf & Klar. Don't know how many went to other distributors.

What do the stocks look like? In good condition they can be worth 250-550 all by themselves. Service vs Magna makes a big difference to some folks.

Looks to me like a late W&K 3rd Model 4" blued revolver. The finish is pretty rough, but it might be cleaned up a little. If the stocks are original and in decent condition, I think it might be worth $750+. How is it mechanically? I don't think its value is anywhere near what an early W&K .44 HE is worth, but it's still a desirable vintage revolver. Good luck with the purchase.

That photo isn't all that clear, but I'd bet a dollar to a donut hole that the first digit in that S/N is a '3'. Mine is in the 33500 serial range, and the difference in the 3 and 5 is similar, but very different. Mine also has the small trademark on the left of the frame. Here it is along with my 6-1/2" from the 54000 serial range. Don't think I have any photos showing the S/Ns for either of these.

I admit I'm out of touch with current prices/values on those, but I'd say you stole that one for 850. I remember seeing a poorly refinished one sell for twice that much within the past 4-5 years.
